Thinking of getting a used 2003-2004 E55...

My W208 CLK 430 was hit a few weeks ago in a rear end collision and I have been wanting some AMG power pretty bad. Was thinking about a used 03-04 E55 (with up to 40-50K miles) but was curious what a fair price to pay for one of these are and what issues I can expect from one regarding problems.I am used to MAF replacements, brake stop lamp switch replacements, routine general maintenance. Is the transmission an issue or is the beefier AMG unit pretty stout? Also, if anyone has one that might match my criteria, let me know as I am may be looking very soon. The shop may be totalling out my CLK but the prospect of getting an AMG is nice

You should be able to find what you want anywhere from $39-$50k. You may be used to maint. items, but some parts can get pricey. I would find a car with some remaining factory warranty.

What he said...plus get an extended warranty or buy one with it that can be transfered. Make sure to get the supercharger clutch and belt assembly replaced while still under warranty also. Complain to the dealership about the chirping noise and they will replace this for you under warranty.

Good luck!

Thanks, I would like to have the nav but if it is anything like Comand 2.0, the Germans still have alot of catching up to do compared to the Japanese.

As for the blower, I have heard of the electronic clutch going out often. Looks like the car was repairable but I may be looking at a W211 in the nearfuture. Thanks for the advice guys!

You could always retrofit nav for a couple grand. The dealer quoted me $2100 when I asked about '03 models (although I eventually found an '04). I'm sure MBDoctor and MBenzNL will do it cheaper. Good luck.

Im now convinced i have the worst dealership in the world. They refused to change my s/c clutch. They also told me retrofitting nav on my 03 would be impossible. Anyone use millenium mercedes in edison?
