Has Anyone Heard Of These Extended Warranty Plans?
Hey All,
My factory warranty expired on Tuesday and I'm shopping for an extended warranty. I contacted aaautowarranty and smartautowarranty, both of which are brokers. They provided me with info on the following 3 "bumper to bumper" plans:
1) Performance One ( including wear and tear coverage ) - $2800 for 4 years 100K total miles
2) IAP (not including wear and tear coverage ) - $4500 for 4 years 100K total miles
3) National Autocare ( including wear and tear coverage ) - $3800 for 4 years and 100K total miles
I haven't heard much about any of these warranty plans and can't find much one them. Has anyone heard of these plans? Are there any plans that anyone would reccomend aside from these? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!

It's not worth the savings from a 2nd tier 3rd party service policy. Most of these companies use brokers and then administrators to do the actual claims. After a few years, most of them are no longer in business.
How do I know. I was a causalty of one of the Companies that went bankrupt. They replaced my engine with one from the florida swamps and then that engine went out. I was out some $4K.
You can go with a reputable 3rd party such a Chrysler, Mercury Insurance Co., etc. where you are dealing with real companies. Further, most of these extended warranty only insure the power train and not all the interior electronics. Check the policy carefull to know what is covered and what is not covered.
good luck.

Duh...obviously we should have purchased the mercedes warranty when we got the car..but the point is that you cant buy them after you drive off the lot (or was it 7 days)...
I always wondered what options we E55 owners have after warranty expires...please keep us posted!

As I said, buyer beware of 2nd tier 3 rd party warranties.
Pay the xtra $$ and go with a national firm.

I'm probably going to go with the National Autocare plan reccomended by SmartAutoWarranty.
Mercedes Massapequa offered me a Guardian plan even though the warranty is expired. But they require that you pay the entire premium in one shot so if they somehow go under, I'd be screwed out of $3500. They also don't offer wear and tear coverage.
National Autocare seems to cover alot more and allows buyers to pay the premium in monthly installments. So at least I can cancel at anytime and if they do somehow go under, I don't lose out on that much.

You name it i've had it or got it...
heard nothing but good things and read the same about chrysler service plans (Mike). they are still owned 20% by Daimler...so i would suspect that there wouldn't be any issues with them.
