Burning Oil?
car has 35000 miles and I got a message 1700 miles ago to put in a quart. Message popped up again tonight. Is this too frequent ? No exotic driving

That is too frequent, but it really should have happenned over time. Look into it and make sure you don't have a crack or leak somewhere.

Now I see in the manual that it says .8 l per 1000K is normal, which is a 2 quart allowance for the 1700 miles, so maybe OK

That is for max useage and not at all normal imo.
