Traded in my SLK AMG for E63!
Well, a few days ago I posted a thread about my E63 search. Well, I'm not searching anymore! Today I came home with an 08 Arctic White E63 AMG!!
I had my eyes on 4 E63s in the seattle area. 1 used black 07, a new 07 (black) and 2 08s (silver and white). Yesterday I test drove the 07 (12k miles) and the dealer's last offer was $40k for my trade in (06 SLK55 AMG with 29K miles) and $78k for the E63 (a $38K delta). I passed. Today I drove to Lynwood, WA (15 minuts north of Seattle) and checked out a white 08. WOW. I started to drool immediately. It had a MSRP of $94,320. After some back and forth, they sold it to me for $90K and gave me $45K for my trade in, so a $45K delta. I thought it was a fair deal, especialy considering I had a ton of miles on a 2 year trade-in car.
I just LOVE the E. I will miss my SLK, but frankly, I needed something a little more sophisticated and practical. I was getting tired of the crazy rough ride and feeling cramped in my SLK. The E63 is just a monster! I am in love.
Options: iPod integration, read side window blinds, voice control, panorama sunroof, electronic trunk and premium 2 package. Black interior.
I'll post pics in the next few days.
As for upgrades, I'll need to overhaul the stereo. I'm having my stereo intallers take out my JL audio amps and sub from the SLK and I'll put them in my new E63. Will get a window tint and maybe some rims.
I'm so excited!

Congrats on the new beast! Good color choice. So I guess I have another twin in my neck of the woods.
If you are going to mod the new beast I would recommend talking with Jim or Joel at Car Nutz Customz.
Have fun!

G55 & SLK55
Congradulations on your new ride, the E63 is superb car and looks terrific!
Its a nice switch the SLK is definatley cramped but the E's spacious interior and large engine will compensate interms of the fun factor
Is it a 030 Perf package car?
Please Post some pictures of your new E-class and drive safely!

Thanks all!
It is a great car. Driving to work today was very relaxing. Lately I was kind of grumpy driving to work, but today I had a smile on my face. Some initial observations:
- I was somewhat stunned about the insurance costs!! Geeze. I actually thought my rate would go down since before the E63 I was driving a small AMG convertible, but my rate went up significantly. Does that make sense, i.e., paying more for a 08 E63 than an 06 SLK 55?
- I swear it feels significantly faster than my SLK. I thought I was going to miss the SLK speed, but the E63 seems to be on a different level.
- The luxury is nice. Much more luxurious than my SLK. The little touches are nice, and the seats are 1000 times better than the SLK seats.
- I'm still getting the "looks" from pedestrians and other drivers. The SLK is a gorgeous car, and people would stare in awe when I drove by. Well, the E63 is a looker as well here in Seattle. Time to get the tinted windows.
- The stereo and nav is lame. This is my only gripe. $15K nissans have better nav systems, and the stereo is pretty lame, with no bass at all. I'm going to need to spend a few $$ to get the system up to my standards. When will a luxury auto-maker ever strike a deal wtih a high-end car audio manufacturer (like JL audio). Oh well.
- Not sure if I am going to put on the front license plate. I didn't put a front plate on my SLK and I only paid one $150 ticket in 2 years. I might risk it again, but the plate integration doesn't look all that bad on the E63.
