Curious to know what some have upped to or are considering when their leases are up or just tired with their cars.

Aside from the M5 which I love driving hate style and interior gadgetry and the Ugly RS6 there isn’t much in this segment it appears.

I myself need a 4 door for the family, fold down seats save the day for me and the AMG is very versatile for my lifestyle. I hate to get rid of it but may be forced to soon because of a reoccurring problem that can’t be fixed.

I considered the CLS55 but decided to keep my E55. I dont think there is much out there if you want a car that you can tune and will run mid to low 11s with ease..

There is no replacement for these cars. Plain and simple. They're the best of all worlds. Nothing is gonna give you the same level of performance while maintaining the same level of comfort and luxury. You'll hate whatever you move to IMO.

I was basically looking for a performance four door (under $100K), which led me to the E63. I really wanted all-wheel drive, but not much out there. Cars I considered:

ML63 - I was REALLY tempted. Amazing performance, aggressive looks, under $100K and best of all imho, 4 wheel drive. A black or white ML63 has "big baller" written all over it. I'd choose it over a Cayenne Turbo

RS6 - The new wagon has a very unique look, and if you wait a year the sedan will come out. Except for the S5, most audis look like they were designed in the 80s. I think all wheel drive is great, but I passed on audi due to body styling.

Lexus - the RX hybrid has some power and is nice. The high end sedans are nice rides but you won't get the performance.

porsche Cayenne S - The turbo is too expensive, but the S could be an option. Not the greatest performance though.

The new S65 or CL65 are both amazing as daily drivers and have way more power than E's... you just can't beat the V12 bi-turbo. The interior is leagues ahead as well.

I would consider a CLS (55 or 63). I sure do like the utility of a four door and the performance of a sports car (acceleration-wise anyway) wrapped up in a luxury package. These cars are tough to beat.

I see everyone loves the CLS I do too but there is no headroom for me and the seats dont fold down that is why I never considered it in the first place.

what recurring problem - scaring me...i'm hoping to buying a used E63 one day.

also, would you consider a CPO S600 sport or S65?
i think for the money, those are the most amazing cars today.

personally, i'm very disappointed in the current MB interiors unless S600 or designo.

I have 30 months left on my 33 months lease...and yes, I'm already thinking about what to get next! My wife calls it a disease...

The imminent replacement E63 with the rumoured twin turbocharged V8 could be a real option...eagerly waiting to see what the W212 generation E-class looks like.

I would LOVE the CL63, but the practical matter of having one youngster now and hopefully another one next year means a two door coupe is out of the question. The S63, though the same size, strikes me as more 'mature'...funnily enough though, I'd initially ordered an S550 4matic before switching to the E63 and now I have a different outlook for the W221 S-class.

The upcoming Porsche Panamera could also be a serious contender...but so much about that car is rumours and hearsay that I am waiting and seeing.

Other than the above mentioned, not much else captures my imagination right now in the market place sadly...

my options must be new cars since we do 24 month leases under the company it makes sense. I just buy used when its a collector car from the 50,60;s as an investment

535 with piggy back, FMIC and mild exhaust mod

add some M5 or M6 wheels..

good daily driver.. that would stay with a stock E55 around town..

I'm only 6'0 and I was very headroom limited. Seats moved back and as low as they would go and my head was still touching the roof. I had to sell the car after 6 months for the E because of it. Not everyone is the same.

Agreed on the quality of the Audi, had leased an A8L before the E63 and my brother is now leasing an S6 after a C32 AMG.

Originally wanted the S8 to replace the A8L, but the Audi Financial lease numbers were pretty atrocious and I think that remains true for the '08 model year.

On a related note: had a chance to listen to the B&O system in an S8 recently and wow is all I can say, I would've definitely ordered the car with it.

I agree with this - the A8L's are awesome.

If your pockets are deep enough look at a new LS600h. They (LS's in general) are awesome cars (quality, comfort, Butter Smooth, reliability). They are not a MB (in a lot of ways this is GOOD) from a drive perspective (can't feel the road/numb).

My wife is running roughshod on me and when my lease is up on the E she is forcing me back to Lexus for a 600h. Here is a stat for you: E55 in shop at least once a month. In over 600K miles on Lexus' (about 13 of them for the family/extended family) only one unplanned trip to service for a fix (sensor on a height control on our GX470). I miss this type of reliability...

I would never buy a non AMG/Forced Induction MB, but I will take the trade-off for the AMG/E55 performance.

Good luck.

my friend had an Audi A8L...nice cruiser, but since he didn't drive much(1.5 mile each way to work), he ended up trading it in for a PRIUS, LOL...and he LOVES IT!
