I've been dreaming about an E55 for a long time and have decided to sell my BMW convertible and buy an E55 (2005). I used to have some fairly fast muscle cars and I really miss the power. Can someone help me figure out how to buy a used car without buying someone's problem? I have heard Carfax may not be an accurate way to judge a car. Will a MB dealer be able to tell me if the car has been a buy back or in an accident? How can you tell if a car has been a flood victim?

If you can befriend a Tech or SA at a Mercedes dealer bring the VIN, and see if you can get them to give you a VMI - Vehical Master Inquiry on the complete Service History on the car... Normaly they won't unless you own the car... It's considered Priviledged Information.

I've said this before and will say it again and "up the ante". Not only the best looking SL I have ever seen but maybe the best looking Benz on the planet!

Oh, by the way; if the V8Kompressor, E55, or AMG badging seems to be on wrong (spaced wrong, not level, uneven) it may be a red flag, too!
