audi's quoted as saying "no plans" for u.s. import on the avant or manufacture of an rs6 saloon...so you shouldn't have to worry about it for at least a couple more years.

Check out my sig. That's with Keyes in Van Nuys and Beverly Hills Audi. You're right to say Audi America won't confirm it's coming, but it should be here in 12 months. Europe get it in the Spring the lucky SOBs.

yea I think audi's hp # are a bit misleading always because I think there is a ton of HP loss from the engine through the AWD system. but 500+lb ft of tourque in rs6 as well.

Sources say that the output is about 600hp, they're putting 572 on paper. Audi underrates their 0-60, etc on paper as well. Example with the RS4, paper says 4.8 but people and tests have gotten 4.3-4.5

I cannot imagine Audi would not release the new RS6 here as it (on paper has way more power than an m5 or e63) seems to have all the bells and whistles including AWD, which for me is a big selling point as I live in Chicago. But I drove a regular s6 the other day andthe car is just not that pretty or "special" looking, now the RS seems to have huge wheel arches and aggressive spoilers etc....I guess we will have to wait and see.

audi is the king of making slow sports cars. My SRT8 jeep walked all over my friends 04 S4 even at an 80mph roll up to 150!!! I also beat a couple RS4's in my SUV! I raced a RS6 a couple years ago in my CTS-v and beat it. The new S5 is slow. I have lost hope. MB-power forever!

You've got a 6.1L blown V8 vs a 4.2L NA V8...not too much of a match there.
S5 slow, eh. For the 4.2L w/ 354hp in it, 0-60 in 4.3-4.5, not bad I'd say.

They are heavy cars that don't have too high of a output but that doesn't mean they're no good. It's not all about speed...not too many places in the US where you can go 150mph or even 120+ for a very long time before you either run out of roadway or hit someone. You've got a well balanced machine that has the power, can handle well, one of the best, if not the best interiors on the market. There are plenty of ways to make them fast, esp with FI.

MY truck had a N/A 6.1 it also weighed almost 5,000lbs. 0-60 is one thing. I favor quartermile my self.... yes audi's handle well, a S anything is more somthing i would get the girlfriend... safe, not real fast, and smooth. they are great cars, just not if you want class leading performance, imo
I should say that I did love the B5 s4 and 03/04 RS6

I will give you that. the RS lines are sick! I just think audi should come back make atleast a couple cars that really give the competion a run. my good friend has always had S4's but now is looking into an M3 because he is sick of losing highway races to cars simular in price to his S. hopefully the future for audi is bright. I would buy one in a heart beat if it moved like my E55!

Wow, 600 hp is really impressive Even with 25% drivetrain loss, the car will produce 440 to 450 to the wheels
Not to mention that a simple stage 1 or 2 ECU tune will easily bring it to 700 hp before the real advanced modding starts......
I hope Mercedes/AMG are working on something to counter this thing

Your friend should look at the RS4, that's one fine sedan that has the luxury and power. Love that exhaust note.
I'm sure Audi knows they need to do more in terms of power to compete with AMG and M. The past offerings of the RS line in the US is certainly a move towards it, esp with the RS4. We'll just have to wait and see when the RS6 comes out and how it compares No doubt with a TT V10 it'll move and with some easy mods

well the new E's are 2 years away and who knows if they will come out with the AMG at the same time as the regular variants......rs4 is a mini beast that handles fantastically well...rs6 will be a beast(e63/55) beater I have to say speed wise at least on paper.....the biggest prob with the beast now is launching and audi will not have that with the quattro system...I wonder if future e class AMG models will incorporate AWD???

+1....... all the way

dont care how much the RS6 weighs, it should be able to pull to 60 in less than 4, considering an M5 can do it in 4.1, and weighs only ~400 lbs. less, makes 100 less hp, and 100 less tq, not to mention the AWD. I bet it sounds amazing!
