2003 E55 or 2003 S55
You shouldn't have too much difficulty figuring out which would best meet your needs.
The S55 is much heavier, slower, and handles less nimbly. It's more spacious, has more cache and makes more of an impression on the average bystander than the E55. The current S55 is much better appointed and luxurious than the outgoing (w210) E55, but the 211E55 closed the interior luxury gap considerably.
I think it's relatively easy to peg someone who is better suited to a 211E55 vs S55. If you really value interior space, trunk space, ability to make a bold curbside statement about luxury, and really don't value performance characteristics like handling and sheer acceleration all that much, you need to get an S55.
If the most important characteristics about a car are performance related, but you'd like to have this performance capacity wrapped up in a slick, luxurious sedan ultrastructure, then an E55 is the way to go.
In general, the M5 is first and foremost a great performance package, which has been stuffed into a luxurious sedan--while the E55 is a primarily a luxurious sedan which has been tuned to have great performance charcteristics.
The S55 is further away from the M5 down this same line....an even more luxurious sedan than the E55, but the performance capacities are also more muted than the E55 and greatly muted compared to the M5.
Bottom line: if luxe and space matter most, the S should get the nod. If pure sport driving pleasure is more important, the E.
But factoring in the money aspect, the E55 is the better value, better performer, and will provide greater driving fun.

I am really confused as to which of these two I should get. I am getting delivery around summer 2003 for either of the cars, and I am just not sure which of the two to get. Price is also a factor, is it worth the extra money for a S55? I am not sure of what to do. Your opinions would be a great help.

I own a 2001 E55, with just over 7000 miles on it. I am completely pleased with it's performance, and comfort (in that order). I believe I would reverse that order if I owned the S55.
FWIW, I definitely would enjoy owning the S55.
Have fun!
If price is not a facter then jump all over the S55. Es are nice but its still nothing compared to a nice S.
i donno...i mean...the s55 amg seems like an odd ball in the s-class lineup...because if i had that much cash lying around...i'd get the s600 v12 version...
