21 E450 Wagon and 07 SL55
Speaking of W210 E55s I just got rid of my 05 Magnum RT and replaced it with an 02 E55.

The first thing you need to understand is the Hemi cars are not that much cheaper to modify if you are looking for a cheap to modify car you need a GM or a Ford. The new G8 will be the cheap and fast domestic to beat!

Now to the more important issues the Hemi cars have poor build quailty and are just full of stupid plastic! The engines idle poorly and the lifters tick on almost all of them. The servicee departments at the dealers are full of guys that just tell you "They all do that" for almost everything I took mine in for! I had the SRT-8 suspension on my Magnum and Hotchkis sway bars when I took the car to a track event with the Mercedes club and if it was not for the crap brakes on the RT cars I would have been one of the cars to beat that day. It has boon about 30 days since I repaced the Magnum and I do not miss it at all but I am pretty sure that I was faster on my favorite road in the Magnum thne I am in my E55 so far.

The Magnum was my first and last domestic car I will never talk my self into something like that again and as nice as the LX cars look on they are not Mercedes. My Magnum never failed to get me to my destination and had the most severe depreciation of any car I have ever seen!

Good luck on what ever you choose to get but remember you will never tell your self that the interior of your Mercedes is too nice, but you will ***** about that crap that was installed in the LX.

Again, tho', not really relevant to where my head's at now.
Credence to what? Jackpro1 gave you an EXAMPLE of what it would cost to replace the SC and motors part, not a factuall story that it happened.

I dont think your understanding what you're reading here.Nobody is having problems with any SC's.

I don't think the supercharger was blown, but I've come across a thread where someone said the dealer had to change out the whole supercharger, but can't remember why? and I think some were talking about the supercharger pulley and clutch being replaced

Also, a couple of superchargers were changed on the C32 forums a while back.

Some of them replaced the whole S/C under warranty due to the chirping sound...most got the clutch assembly replaced like I did.

Okay folks, here's the deal. I posed a question yesterday about the relative merits of two cars, and have received many helpful responses. I've made my decision about how to proceed. So, if some of you want to continue a debate as to whether there are any threads in this forum about broken superchargers, feel free to do so. But you will have to do it without me, as I've other fish to fry. For those of you who actually undertook to answer the question I posed, you have my thanks.

Does it really cost more than $20k just to get a bottom end fixed in an E55? If that doesn't sound bad enough $39k plus $12k for labor is more than I would be paying for an E55 when I buy one!!

I can't argue with your numbers, after all you do have the most current knowledge. Did your warranty cover your oil leak?

Those have to be dealer retail prices, the cost of a pre-assembled short block is around 12-13 grand.
