E55
Thats the older E55 style center console, but the steering wheel has paddle shifters like the E63,and also gauge cluster.

That is a Euro Spec car. They only took the butterfly consoles away from the states and canada.

cuz the US needed cup holders.
no need for them in EU as people drive fast and don't worry about spilling coffee and holding the cell phone at the same time!

My '03 has the clamshell/butterfly console and still has the cupholders between the console and gearshift. The one in that photo appears to be set up the same as mine.

My non-US '03 looks like this as well but the small covered section in front of the arm rest doesn't have a cup holder - just a small coin/knick knack holder. You can insert a cup holder attachment into this space which pops out.
May be look at the wreakers etc.

Jangy,

it is quite pricey to make the change. I went to the dealership originally when i got the 55 and they said it would cost more to do than worth because so many small parts. best bet would to hopefully find a car that was in a bad accident that can't be repaired and can't be repaired.
