Slight shimmy in the steering wheel....
Everything seems to be almost perfect. About 70% of the time there is a slight shimmy felt in the steering wheel at highway speeds. Slight shimmy also present under breaking, either hard or soft. But again, its not all the time.
It has Blizzak snow tires on, but it doesn't feel like its from the tires. Passenger doesn't feel any shimmy.
Any thoughts on what this may be from?
for now) as well. Most E cars do have a very slight shimmer at a specific speed (70?) and also pull to the right from the factory. I guess they prefer you to swerve off to the side of the road in case you pass out. Many here have had somewhat similar issues to you, even on new cars. More often than not, replacing the tires fixed the issue.
Note patterns to it. At specific speed? as you speed up or slow down? on the brake off the brake? etc.
76,000+km on the car.
Winter tires are brand new. Had them dump the stock tires and put the winters on the stock rims (kinda wide for winter, but didn't need three sets of rims). Don't really want to replace the tires. $1700 for new rubber!
Haven't noticed any specific patterns. Nothing specific on acceleration or deceleration. Just seems to come and go. Didn't notice it at speeds under 50-60mph. Was definately there 60mph+, all the way up to 130mph.
car tracks straight at all speeds.
Little bit more of a shimmy when braking, but thought that might be rotors/pads. But wouldn't expect that to be part of the issue during driving.
Had a passenger in the car and asked her if she noticed a shimmy and she said no (and she's a car fanatic, so she'd know what to look for). She reached over and could feel it in the steering wheel.
North end of richmond hill in Oak Ridges. King Rd and Yonge St.
I could always wait till May when I put the summer wheels on to see if that makes any difference.
