Question on snow tires

Expecting some snow tonight, and was just wondering about snows on my 07 E63.

Tirerack state that MB recommend 245/40-18 for the car.

I still have a set of winter tires from my 01 BMW M3 and was wondering whether they'd fit. They are Bridgestone Blizzak MZ-01 225/50R17 on 7.5Jx17H2 rims. There are spacers for the rear 2 wheels as the M3 had bigger rears than fronts.

Just wondering if I could use these rather than have to get a new set. Would be interested in opinions.

Thanks.

I would be really surprised if the bolt patterns and offsets magically fit.

I bought a set of Blizzaks on MSW Type 12 for my E55. I'll know next week how well they work!

Running Blizzaks on the stock rims for the winter. A bit wide for snow tires, but they seem to be fine. Ok in the slush and the hard packed snow.
12" of snow supposed to be falling tonight so I'll really get to see how they handle.

The BMW and Mercedes bolt pattern and offset are wrong as is the tire size.

The snows that fit the stock AMG wheels sould be 245/40/18 and 265/35/18 for the rear. I just ordered a new set of Blizzak LM-25's for my stock wheels as I HATE the aftermarket winter wheel options. Also, I wanted a 265 in the rear to lay down power for the days when it is dry as they get you more dry traction then the 245's. Cost was $956 delivered for all 4 tires. Expensive but much cheaper ten sliding into a curb!

Thanks for the assistance. I guess I didn't hold out too much hope in the first place. Don't know why the manufacturers need to make this so difficult! I had a Jag S-type R and it's bolts are embedded in the wheel, you just add the nut. Thought the germans might be more sensible and keep it standard.

Guess money rules all these decisions

Now, if only Tirerack would do a part exchange...

As to your Jag, it was not "standard" either. Studs v. wheel bolts is not real right v. wrong as they are just different. I am actually not a stud fan and they are most frequently found on trucks and American cars (such as your Ford, I mean Jaguar ). And the offsets and bolt pattern vary just as much with studs as with bolts.

Good luck!
