How much mileage from stock Conti's??

I have a 9,000 Mile E55, and cant believe how quickly the rear tires have run down... HONESTLY, I dont drive the car hard. Its never been to the track either.. I cant believe how quickly these run down.. There are not bald yet. But they are pretty low for a 9,000 mile car..

I have 13,5k on mine now, the tread is still ok but they are sooooo damn noisy now I contemplate changing them out all the time....

If you drive hard, they may get 10K out of them. If not, the will last longer. They turn pretty hard about halfway through the tread, so I end up throwing them away before they are done or just toasing them.

The Conti's wore pretty much the same as the PS2's have been doing for me. 15k on the rear and 30k on the fronts, but I have ZERO twisties to play on.

Last time I needed tires, I was sick of spending so damn much money on the PS2's and my tire guy talked me into trying a set of Riken Raptors (never heard of the brand but he said they were made by Michelin). I never thought I'd find a set of tires that I liked worse than the Conti's, but these are complete garbage. Back to PS2's I guess.

I have been so, so easy on these tires. After the first post above, I went and checked the rear tires. At 7K they are nearly down to the wear bars. Crap, crap, and more crap. Everything said about the Contis points towards the worst tire made.

How much is a set of PS2's?

7500 miles and I did ZERO burnouts however my car is always in service for days on end and who knows what the techs do when they drive it.

I just put my contis back with OEM and my two fronts are brand spanking new, replaced by dealer and my rears are gone. For now Im going to use the Contis to save the expense since I am not holding on to this ride much longer.

Last 3 cars I traded all had PS2 that were brand new so the new lucky owner got a great perk, never again unless its a keeper.

Conti makes better tires, MB just doesn't want to pay for them. Plus, with performance comes side effects and MB has to stay plush.

Have 9,500 miles and the fronts are OK, the rears a pretty worn. This is with an entire season at the track. Don't think it is that bad. Being a daily driver on NYC roads I am skeptical about the PS2's...aren't they a softer compound than the Conti's? Don't want any bent rims when going over pot holes.

The Conti's suck. Replaced the rears at 6K and the fronts at 10K with PS2's because they were so loud. The rears were almost bald, (I have a heavy foot), but the fronts still looked pretty good but were so loud I swore I had a bad bearing.

Please tell me where you're getting PS2's for $200. The Tire Rack is close to $275 and that was the lowest price I could find.

IMO, the PS2's are one of the best tires I've ever had on a car. Short tread life but quite, smooth and grippy while they last.

I get a special deal at a local Discount Tire. Actually, I looked up my invoice and I paid $230 mounted, but I bought 8 tires at that time.

I was going to ask the same question, as I have been paying $1,200 - $1,400 per set and most quotes I've gotten are usually $1,500 - $1,600 per set.

My "normal" cost through them for these would be $1000 installed. The shop is friends with a friend of mine and so he sent me there and asked them to take care of me. There were awesome and hook up all of our friends. They handle the HREs right, mount and dismount whatever (we tried so many different sizes on the car!!). Very nice guys. I also tip the tech $100 each time, so i guess add that in. The other four tires I got at the time were the Yoko Advan A048s. Oh yeah, I bought two DRs as well, so I got 10 tires at one time.

7k-9k on the rears is typically what i've gotten on my cars.

imo, complaining about tire life when you're driving a 500+HP RWD car is just absurd.

equally absurd is never stomping the gas or driving the car hard b/c you're worried about tire life..!!

u only live once, mash that gas pedal!

There was somebody here on the boards that was able to get 20,000 miles out of their Conti's, but not sure how hard they drove
