opinion on 2003 E55 looking at...
Is this a steal for $31k or should I pay a little more for a lower mileage E55. A good detail job would probably make the interior look better. The 12 month warranty makes me feel better and I can even buy another 12 months(24 months total) for $2500.
Opinions??? Thanks

Black cars are extremely hard to deal with. You clean, polish, etc. and the damn thing will be dirty in less than one day. Look at the finish of this '03 car and see what the condition of the clear coat is. You will probably see scratches in the clear coat. If you don't see many, someone has cared for the car. Still, there are many used E55s for sale, why do you want black?
Go to a body shop and have the owner go over the car and tell you if it has ever been painted on. If so, start running from this deal and never come back. Next get the car fax and study it (read every entry) until you understand every entry and see how many people have owned the car.
Ask them to put the VIN in the computer and tell you everything that has been done to the car since new. Study to see when the oil changes were done. Also, I always pull the dipstick and look at the condition of the oil after a test drive. Clean oil will be hard to see on the dipstick. If the oil is dirty start running.
Lastly, in two years you will own a car with 100 ticks and no warranty. what do you think it will be worth? Quite a bit south of $31K.
Finally, if you want it (do it) you can't take it with you and in this bad boy they will never catch you.
. There are a ton for sale now. I think I will wait until I can find a good deal on one with low miles. I was getting ready to pull the trigger on a CLK55 until I drove the beast yesterday. It was the most amazing drive I have ever experienced. I had a M3 until recently, and the acceleration with the E55 is simply amazing!!!! Wow.
If you guys know of any good ones for sale please let me know. All I can swing is 35, maybe 37k if I really love the car.
I would tend to say that if the car was in good condition that it would be a god deal at $31K with the mileage if it hasn't been wrecked. But as it isn't, I would say that you get what you pay for so I would pass and spend more to get a really nice one with lower miles as that is twice the miles I would want to have.
