Oh god, not another warranty question

As we all know, any AMG is expensive to maintain, especially the 5.5Ks. What's enticing here is that these have finally dropped into a price range that I am comfortable with. The issue here would be a warranty. Chances are it will be a 2003 or 2004 model. I'm not sure what the factory MB warranty is, but I am sure that there won't be much, if any, left. What are the chances that I could get a CPO for one of these models? I don't really know what the cutoff is for these in terms of age, but it would be nice to have a sub-50,000 mile E55 for less than $40,000 out the door with a fresh warranty.

I would assume that if it were to get CPO'd, it would already have an existing warranty on the car, no?

If one doesn't go for the CPO, how much fire are you playing with?

You should always air to get some kind of warranty on these cars. It does not have to be neccessarily Mercedes' warranty (although definately much preferred), it can be after-market warranty as well. The parts and labor for these cars are expensive. Yes you may pay an extra $2k to $3k on a good warranty, but you could pay that in 2 to 3 visits to the dealer.

You are playing with the flames of hades itself.

Not only is a CPO peace of mind from a warranty stand-point, it also indicates that the car is cleaner than typical. Most trade ins get sent to auction. BUT, the nicer specimens are kept and put through this special inspection to get CPO'd

In the same boat here. Thinking of the 2004 or higher with CPO. Hard to find but I've seen one or two. If you do get the CPO how do you go about adding more years/miles to it?
