Hi Guys,
I dont post much here but am on the board a lot reading stories. I have 2 stories to post - one from this morning and another from last night.
The first was planned. My buddy from NY was in town with his Jeep SRT8 and I have the E55. We did some straight line match ups and also top end. Results: 0 - 40: advantage Jeep SRT8. At any other speed, advantage E55 and as expected, pulled away by a lot at highway speeds. The Jeep is lethal in 0 - 60 and wow I was impressed. Once the E55 gains traction the E55 pulls on the Jeep pretty hard. Still evry impressive 0-60 and hats off to the Jeep!
Second match up was unplanned on my way in to work this morning ( I am at the office on a Sunday as we speak but I will make it out in time for the Patriots game!). This was against a new body WRX STi. We were rolling at about 70 and took a couple of shots and every time I pulled him pretty easily. At higher and higher speeds, I had him by more. I had 2-3 car lengths by 130. =)
I have had the beast 3 months now and these races were the first to even slighly challenge the beast. Most cars can not even keep up and its no fun! I won both of teh above easily but again, its the first time I had so much fun with the car. I maxed teh car out at 160 on the Mass Pike against the Jeep. Rock solid at even that speed. I come from a 2002 E55 and this car is just that much better.
I have a set of brabus 19in wheels with new bridgestone RE050A PP's waiting. I read a lot of people have high hopes of these tires and I have heard they are great. I have no other experience with tires on the W211 E55 other than the stock contis but they dont grip that well at times! It is probably part the car and part the tires...lets see....pics posted after I get the spacers from Brabus and wheels on the car.

To be honest, I would think you would pull on the sti much harder than 2-3 cars, especially the newer one's. I had an 04, which has basically the same engine, same hp, is lighter than the newer one's and my E55 would totally destroy that car if I were to run into it today. From the highway it would be a brutal murder so I am shocked he could even hang 2-3 cars on you from 70.
I was being conservative when i said 2-3 car lengths. I kept slowing down by the time i had him by 3 car lengths due to traffic. The STI was no real match but still fun nonetheless!
Cant wait to get the PPs put on!!

In all honesty, I do not hit speeds that high often. This was the 2nd time. The 1st time I wanted to see how the car felt when I first got her 3 months back at that speed. This time it was in good fun and no crazy business. Nice open highway and nothing but asphalt!

SRT-8 jeep is lethal from the Hole. If you power brake at launch it catapults off the line like a bat out of Hell.
, after the E gets traction it is pretty much a wrap.
