FS: Brand New VRP 178mm Pulley
Hey Guys,
I just bought the part this week. The build quality fit and finish is beautiful, Victor has a great piece!! Anyway, I decided to go with a 168mm pulley and maybe eventually move up to a 178mm pulley. I may be regretting my decision down the road but changing and swapping things is what modding is all about!!!
BTW- The Crank Pulley is RED, Water Pump Pulley, Crank Bolt, New Belt and Pulley Installation tool are all in the set...
$1400/shipped to your door!!
PM with any questions

Love this "pretty" talk. You can barely see the crank pulley when looking down into the engine compartment, and a 178mm ASP pulley does exactly the same thing as a 178mm VRP or Evotech pulley for a fraction of the price. Why the hating on ASP? From what I read here, there are many owner's/users that are very happy with their ASP pulleys.

The other thing is that while there have been quite a number of happy users, there have also been many of us waiting for a properly built one (in our opinions). I paid $1299 delivered and installed for my VRP. The pretty talk comes from the red look and the nice craftmanship. We are simply in awe because the ASP had so horribly tainted our opinions of a pulley..

hey, hey, hey.. come on now...
When you open the box and you pull out that nice red pulley, you smile and think to yourself.. "yeah.. I spent some $$$ on this but damn does it look good.. "
You are right.. it sits at the bottom of the engine compartment and no one can see it.. Just remember, these crank pullies are made from scratch and are balanced right out of the gate.. You dont see any drill holes in our pullies for this very reason.
I know there are some guys out there with ASP pullies that just love them.. There are alot of guys that had alot of problems too.. (I am one of them).. My pulley wobbled like a S.O.B and threw belts.. so did Jakpro's and some other people that I just cant remember... But if you are lucky enough to get a good one right out of the gate, you really cant complain for $800..

There are those that are happy, but let me add a bit. First off, the VRP is the biggest pulley out for our cars. PERIOD! You want proof? Try to strap one on without taking the water pump pulley off and replacing it. Ok, so you could argue that it is simply the ridge that is bigger. Then, I say compare the size of belt that the VRP one needs vs the ASP. The belt swap takes a second. I'll meet anyone with an EVOtech or ASP and show them the difference.

As far as visual appearance and quality of materials there is no contest the vrp wins hands down. What you should remember is that when asp first came out all tuners dismissed it as to big, now almost every tuner offers a larger pulley.
If I had to start over I would buy a VRP, but I wouldn't sell my ASP to buy a VRP it has served me to well despite the surface rust which I clean off from time to time.

I don't think there is anything wrong with the ASP pulleys aside from the way they look and rust, but, if i spend this much on an E55, a few hundred dollars for something that looks that much better is worth it to me. IMO

The ASP comes with a smaller water pump pulley and will not fit with the factory water pump pulley. Are you making more than 15 lbs of boost ?

I don't think we are really disagreeing on anything. EVOtech also offers a water pulley replacemet, but that doesn't mean their pulley is larger. Like I said, I'll meet up with anyone and swap out belts to literally measure which is larger. At any rate, it is minimal. I agree that they both do the same physics. I just like being able to pay a slight premium and actually get quality vs paying a premium to get a name brand that looks just like the ASP

The inside diameter of VRP, Evotech or ASP pulley is the same 175mm !!! So they offer same booost levels !!!
I am happy with my ASP as well...

As much as you work with VRP, seems like you would have measured them for yourself. The difference is small, true. But it is a 178mm.
