Is this a good purchase?

I'm a newbe perspective e55 buyer and wondering if you can assist me. I own BMW & Porsches but never a Benz. I also have modded them (Dinan etc) a little. I am contemplating the purchase of a 06' e55 48k miles for $55k. It also has been modded with the following:

Kleeman Stage II (ecu upgrade, pulleys, headers)
K&N filters
Renntech Lowering Module
80 MM Throttle Body
Quaife LSD
Evosport generation II floating rotors
9 x 18 fronts with 275 rubber
9.5 x 18 rears with 295 rubber
Tinted windows
Euro rear spoiler
Removed Resonators

I have not yet looked or drove the car but will in a couple days. I've research in this forum to try and get an idea what to look for in a used 55 like butter-smooth shifting etc. The tuning items were installed by a bay area speedshop that specializes in benz tuning and particular this blower mod. He takes it to dealer for warranty things only. He also states he changes the oil every 10k per instructions.

Given these impressive mods, should I be watching for anything additional? (other than lots of rear wheel spin) It has an extended 100k / 2012 warranty. Should I worry about transferability and voidance from the mod work? I believe the price is pretty good given all the extra tuning but opinions are welcome. By the pics and specs I'm drooling thinking about this machine but want to be careful. thanks in advance.

May be from price point of view...

But... modded car, 48K but changing oil only every 10K? I would be very cautious. Instruction only applies to stock cars... not modded like this. Mine is only stage 1 and I change oil every 6 months (or 2-3K - I drive mine only about 5-6K a year).

What are the stats on the rims? offsets, brand, weight, etc?

I would only buy a modded car from someone that I knew. Some people simply mod to mod and then they just take care of them. Others mod them to drive the crap out of them. By the time a modded car reaches 50K miles, it has had the potential of seeing lots of stress that it was not designed to.

Perfect example is mine. It is an '06 with 20K miles on it, fully loaded (including Euro parts) except pano, distronic, and phone. It hauls butt and I love it. I plan to keep it forever (however long that lasts), but trust me you do not want to buy it.

For me, half of the modding joy is going through the process and seeing the beast come to life anyway.

I would think that as long as it is to manufacturer specs it would be ok. I really cant tell if these mods are internal. If they are I would think that changing oil every 3-5k miles would be sufficient. If they are external it shouldn't be a problem I asked the dealer before I bought my SL55 about modding and they mentioned that with the synthetic oils and how well these engines are made, if I just kept the recommended interval that there wouldn't be a problem.

Well, he could have said it was a "local". That gives it some history for me.

Is that really you, Doug? rofl! You know I had to do due diligence checking everywhere and anywhere I can. I guess it was my Dinan reference that gave me away. This makes me feel even better knowing you're also active on these sites. Forget all that what I said about the "fair pricing" we haven't haggled yet. LOL! See you next week. G

You kidding! I'm not parking my (hopefully) new trick 55 in the tiny parking lot at Barbara's. Guaranteed ding city! I'll drive my old Boxster. Be sure to stay away from all them candidates up in Sac.

What parking lot. There isn't any. LOL...I usually park over in that big parking lot where the trailer parking is away from everyone else and walk over.

I'm going to stay as far away from politician's as possible. I would like to be attending a few of their funerals instead of a friends.
