Help Pricing

Here it is '04 with 120k miles

Anyway i'm really interested in the car, what do you think is a good price for it?
With so many low mile E55's, why would you want one with 120K?! I would buy a low mile W210 E55 before I bought a low option high mile W211 for the same money. Even if it was being given away, I would think twice unless I knew the history. And look at it this way, if it is being given away, 2 major problems and you just made up the difference between that and a 50K mile car!
The car was obviously used for repeated long trips, otherwise one could not accrue so many miles on it. Thus it is practically assured they were attained on freeways, not in in-city commute which is a lot more punishing. It seems to have survived them fine, too, so the car is probably a solid one. Doesn't surprise me, these cars are very well made. Assuming it was taken care of well, which would almost have to be the case to have gotten this far this quickly, it's probably in better shape than most 70,000 mile cars of the same model year out there. These cars like to be driven, every experienced Benz mechanic I've spoken to cringes when they hear of one that's only used on the weekends.
And you can get it for a significant discount because of the mileage.
I wouldn't disqualify it; it could be a decent way to get into a great car if you're trying to make a little dream come true but have to stretch a bit to do it. If you can see the car for yourself, get full records, and get it checked - just like you would any other car - then I don't see a problem.
One thing to look out for is whether the maintenance schedule was really adhered to, including things like spark plug replacements triggered by mileage vs. life etc. My guess is yes for the same reasons as above but it has to be checked.
Having said that.. This car should be priced RIGHT... By right. I mean, in the high $20's, MAYBE low $30's if all the service records, and body work(meaning none) check out... Anything more than that, move on.. There are too many out there to pay above that, for this car..

When I said run away, I did not mean the car was a POS. I just implied that it might not be the best deal, especially if something big breaks and I do not think our cars will go much beyond 120K plus miles without some type of failure in it's near future. Read $$$$$.

I think low $20's would be a deal if it was maintained. Anything in the teens, and I'd grab it for sure. Teens, for a W211 E55.. Thats ridiculous.. You could part it out and make money.

No way I would buy that thing for the figures people are throwing out in this thread, when you can get an '03 with really low miles for what? $30k +/-?
Nothing necessarily wrong with higher mileage on some types of cars, if they've had all the replacements and general upkeep that they were supposed to have had, but the price still better be a LOT lower than the rest of the comparables for sale.
I think W211 55s are a different animal though. I'm not trying to start a fight here, but forced induction is not exactly the perfect recipe for driveline longevity...
I think the OP should pass on this one.
