Lighting package question ?

Hey guys.

If a W211 E55 has no hid's/ lighting package will the car have the same interior lighting etc.as a car that has the hid's ? Is the only true difference just the lack of hid lamps on one car to the other ?

Thanks

Yes, the difference is with the headlamps only. The lighting package includes Bi-Xenons. (HIDs for high and low beams). Also included are headlamp washers, these look like little triangles near the headlamps.

The lighting package should be a "must have" option IMO.

Yeah, but the install is a monster. I thought I remebered closer to 3K to have it all set up. Don't forget it has the active headlights, too.

You also don't get the leveling and the foglight turning function (based on speed, steering wheel angle, turn signal)

If you have the HID lighting option is there still a way to get MORE light? Different bulbs?

If you want the brightest lights 8000 Kelvin bulbs are not what you want. You want to stick with 4300 Kelvin bulbs. The higher the color temperature (Kelvin) the lower the light output. Basic physics.

OEM lows should be 4300k. The OEM fogs are not HIDs.

What is the avantgarde pkg? I am not sure of that one. I do know that one of our Mods has an E class without the LED brakelights and we compared them and the lighting package is the only thing that we could find different. Well, anyway, that was my reasoning.

All E55's come with the LED brake lights. Also other E's that have the lighting package or P2 package or Sport Package have LED rear brake lights along with BIX.

From what I can tell, the only discrepancy in the statements above is the "Lighting Package". I looked into this on this forum and the answer went both ways. I would love a confirmation one way or another. I KNOW that I bought a CPO car that had "Lighting Package" on the sticker. I do not have P2. I have BiXenons and washers up front. I do NOT have LED tails. I have an 05 E500.

That makes sense , as the car that I have in mind is an E350 without the lighting package. I am not sure of the options, but I do know it does not have LED brakelights.

Ah ok sorry about that. The lighting package that was offered on the E320/E350/E500 offered BIX and washers. It did not offer LED tails, unless you also opted for the Sport package or appearance package.

The Sport package for 07+ E350 and E550 includes LED tails and washers, but not BIX. BIX is now part of P2 package.

The E55 had a lighting package that offered washers and BIX. LED tails were standard.

The E63 comes with LED tails. BIX and washers are part of P2 now.

Thanks for the break down. I know what the Sport package is. What is the appearance package? Something different than Sport and AMG packages?

The Sport package was renamed to the appearance package i believe. It had pretyt much the same stuff on the E320/350 (03-06) it just dropped the airmatic suspension on the E350.
