How would the E55 sound if you just did 2.5" or 2.75" pipe from the Xpipe all the way to the back to the tips? better? worse?

I would have to say yes. If you want a growl delete the resonator and secondary cats. If you want loud as hell at the push of a button get cutouts

Stock E55/E63s don't have x-pipe crossover. They have a H-pipe-type (not a true H-pipe) crossover before the secondary cats.

I have deleted my resonator and did the X-pipe mod after the H portion. What is back beyond my Xpipe where the resonator was?

I did the Xpipe mod (resonator delete) and have a little more noise but not near what I was wanting, so wondering what to do next.

Ah, I understand. You deleted the resonator and in it's place put a x-pipe. Now, you want to go straight pipes from the x-pipe thus deleting the two mufflers. It's going to be loud. I bet it's exactly what you're looking for. Give it a try and let us know.

I'm not too familiar with the 55K engine but I think you might lose some backpressure with the muffler delete, hence some loss of torque. Anyone, please correct me if I'm wrong.

Hmmmm, may go do it tomorrow. Think it would take a good exhaust shop long? Like tell em to cut em off, straight pipe it, and let me drive it around, see if i like it and go back if i dont.

what is a good aftermarket muffler if that turns out too loud? I want a really throaty sound.

Should I cut the cats off? or will that throw codes?

I think you will like the sound of the mufflers delete. If not, then Eisenmann Race will set you back between $2K - $2,5K. I think you can find used ones for sale in the Classified forum every now and then.

I'm pretty sure a muffler delete is not as loud as open headers.

As for what kind of tips, I'm not sure but I have heard that tips do have an impact on resonance, whether you'll have a lot or not.

Once i get my car back I'll get a recording. I opted for the K2 program without the cats so I'm not throwing any codes.

Here's a sound clip right before i removed the remaining cats(Secondary). Basically it's the Kleeman headers, Primary Cats Removed, Secondary Cats Intact, Resonator Delete, and Eisenmann Race exhaust
