Hmm, it looks thicker than my stock E55 wheel...and I like the paddle shifters better. Jangy (or anyone else that might know), how likely do you think it will work with mine? You said SOME 2005s?

No, the wiring is different for the paddles and the steering wheel controls are also different if memory serves. While you could technically put it in, it would require you to buy an airbag, wheel controls and do quite a bit of custom work.
Do a search on the MP Design wheel. In all leather, it is a far better option and plug and play for an '03.

I think that only the very late '05 and '06 are a direct swap.

You will have to disconnect your battery, pull the airbag, remove the buttons and test them with a digital volt meter set to diode or continuity testing. If both the left and right buttons read completely open (0.0) when at rest and completely closed (1.0) when pushed, you can buy the wheel and fit the E63 paddles (it will take a wire splice). If the the left paddle reads something like .700 and 1.0 when pushed and the right one reads around .100 and 0.0 (open) when pushed, it will not work.

Thanks for the info. Was hoping to get a decent replacement wheel for less than 1k-1.5K.
