E63 air filters
There was an old thread a while back about airfilters for an E63.. Any one know how much they would increase the HP ? would you feel a difference in the early acceleration ?
Thx

I think anything that 'gains' is worth it depending on the price. That is a very small gain with a very small price. Large gains tend to come with large prices.
Personally I think it is a no-brainer and would do it immediately if it were my E63.

Are you talking about removing charcoal filter? I was thinking to do the same, but I am not sure about the consequences. There must be reason MB put them there. Anyone knows what the risk is? What about warranty issues?

The filter is for emissions only , to meet laws here in the USA. They are not on Euro spec cars. Taking them out allows better air flow and can increase hp. This is free and all it takes is a torx screw driver.
The VRP filters are high quality and added a few hp. The kit definately shows gains and I dynoed at a shop independant of VRP. My best previous dyno with tuned ECU was 408 and I hit 440 with the VRP 530 and , Evotech ecu.
I would say 12-24hp gains....

If all I want to do is remove the charcoal filters, do I need to replace the stock air filters with HiFlow filters or can I leave them in? and if I do, what can I expect in terms of HP gains just from charcoal filter removal?
It seems that removing charcoal filters is a fairly straight forward process, but will the car fail the inspection or emission test?

Since the 63 is N/A you are not going to get huge gains from anything until you get more air flow.
