Euro Navi update and bumper grille question
Hey Guys, not sure if this has been asked before? I searched and didn't quite find what I was looking for.
So I have a 07 E63 and I bought a used Euro Navi and it plays DVD in motion fine, but it seems like it has an older software then my original Navi and some of the functionality doesn't quite work right such as downloading of my phonebook through bluetooth and the menus are a bit different. So the question is, how do I update the software to a newer version and retain DVD in motion? What version should I look for and how do I actually do the update?
Another minor question is, how is the center bumper mesh grille removed? So what happened was, the other night I was on the freeway on the fast lane. I was going maybe ~75mph and the truck in front of me hit a rubber trash can. The trash can flew off to the left into the middle divider and bounced right in front of my car, it all happened so fast and was hard to react. I moved a bit but still hit the trash can. Fortunately I have a clear bra and the scratches on the bumper buffed right out, but it left a slight dent in the grille. So I was looking to take the grille off and push it out. I took a look and there seems to be no screws holding the grille in place. I don't want to yank it off and accidentally break any clips, so has anybody had any experience taking the bumper grille off?
Thanks

I can't answer your first question but as to the second...the lower grill is held on by little clips. This recent post discusses removing it along with the bumper to replace headlights:

The grill is very easy to bend back into shape so you shouldn't have any issues.

I had the same euro-nav update question. I was able to dl a recent US nav update via Torrent, but hesitent to apply as it specifically lists the file as US4006.zip or something like that. Let me know if you get it updated.

So I've been reading around and that file US4006.zip is SW-Rel 22.100 46/06 which for US COMANDs according to this site
http://www.mercupgrades.com/COMAND+A...faq-10.html#16
I'm not sure what will happen if you update your Euro navi with the US update, but from what I've read the latest Euro update is SW-REL 21.090 30/06, but if you do update with the latest Euro update, most likely you will lose DVD in motion and the ability to go into the Engineering menu. It seems like the last Euro update that still had the Engineering menu was SW15/04.
I'm not sure how accurate this is, but that's what I've read on a few sites. If anybody has Euro update SW15/04 or knows how to get it, I'll give it a try.
