radio assistance

left car lights on. came out to car and started ok, but radio does not set to radio/audio function. the back-lit screen comes on (when press on button) w/ amg appearing, but np radio/nav/map or any functions seem to work now. thoughts??? thanks.

Dont you leave the lights on 'auto'?
If there was enough power to start the car, that's not the issue.
Take all the CD/DVD discs out and restart. If still no go -
Turn it all off and see what happens next day.
Shouldn't be a fuse if the welcome screen comes on.
Some software glitch, probably.

Give it some time. When the battery control unit senses low voltage it shuts down all nonessential consumers. When you returned to your car were the lights still on?

yes/ lights on when came out to car. will give another shot today.

auto? yes, usually. had fog lights on and left in that position.

understood. yacht master was spot on. just started car for drive and got "low battery voltage, all non-essential functons willbe temporarily unavailable" message. thanks all for input.
