Smoke out tail lights or not ?
Hey all,
This week I plan on tinting my windows 35 %.. Do you think smoking the tail lights as well would be too much ? My car is black. Are you guys fans of the smoked tails ? Mercedes Benz wants 650 $ to smoke the tails, what does this normally go for ?
I also want to add the spoiler that goes on the top rear of the back window. Yes or not on that ?
Call me crazy but for some reason I'm not a fan of the deck lid trunk spoiler on the E63. I like the look of the E55s with out the spoiler.

Yes they can. I had mine done and love it. They just paint the lens and then clear it. Very easy, BUT make sure you get a good job cause it will show. Mine was $250.

All MB personel should wear ski masks to work. bunch of crooks!! I did mine myself, but im nice with a paint gun.. Local shops charge around $200

I'm not a big fan of the smoked taillight thing...it reminds me of the ricers out there.
Not to mention, people are paying too little attention out there and it is hard enough for them to see nice lit up taillights to know they need not rear end you.

Did mine on my own. VHT paint and clear coat. Took an afternoon and cost $30.
Doesn't look any different than what the dealer would offer.

I don't like them smoked that dark either, but the roof spoiler adds a nice touch. If you do get the roof spoiler and you don't get the lip spoiler for the trunk, it doesn't look as good.

$650 !!!!!! NO F!!!N WAY. I get my taillights done for $80+tip. It is not a hard job. My cuzin actually just bought the tint paper for $30 and put it on himself on his 2007 E350.

Smoke 'em if ya got 'em.
I recently did mine myself for under $30 in materials. I used Niteshades (I know others had problems) and several, several coats of high gloss clear coat with copious amounts of rubbing compound and polishing. They are smooth and shiny.

New to MB family...just got my c55 a few weeks and finally got pulled over twice in two nights for having "no tail light." Any thoughts on what I can do? I don't want to replace them b/c I loved them but I'm tired of getting pulled over and showing them that I do actually do have lights! I have to admit they're a bit hard to see...

Dont get the tail smoked, that is SO GHETTO, and so 90's, its like for rice rockets, not classy european performance machines..
its what you see on 3rd hand 10 year old mercs..
in europe you never see any of that GHetto smoked crap, or huge wheels,
the germans laugh at that stuff I know a few.. lol
tinting the lights should cost no more than $175.. and it looks like it did too.
the E 63 spoilers look actually really nice because they are subtle, again and dont look like they are a cheap bolt on Japanese aerowing..
also there is a good reason the spoilers is there, cause if you have ever done over say 135 in the car, the back end can get light, its there for stability at high speed and also to help push the back end down around corners to aid handling.. mercedes spends millions a year on wind tunnel testing..
the dont do anything without a damn good reason. lol
just make sure you get the soft urethane, with proper flex Paint from either German BASF (glassurit ) which is on the mercedes now, or at least DUPONT.. made for urethane.
just my opinion, but a smart one at least..

Smart opinion would be to stay away from this forum, poser. We remember you, your E550 that you're still trying to pass off as "better" than an AMG and I can just as easy link the thread from BenzWorld where we smashed you into oblivion after ruining you here.
