Don't mean to rain on your parade, but a 1.34 60' time even with drag raidial, slicks and Nitrous this is hard to beleive.

And only 106 trap speed with a 12.4, something was wrong with their timers my friend. Those numbers just don't add up.

See yeah

PS: your 60' time was 0.5 seconds faster than ANY C32 has ever went, and your trap speed was lower by 4-8 mph for your et, according to dragtimes.com. Hate to be a spoiler, but I feel their timers had to of missed up my friend.

Crappy tires led to my demise this trip! My car ran 11.6 at our last outing, and I was somewhat disappointed with my times. My 60' times SUCK! Best I could pull was 1.94. From my previous slips, 60's were at 1.85. Looks like I'm calling TireRack today. Wayne thanks for your words of encouragement and for putting on a great event!

Thanks to you for bringing out that awesome M6 !

I would really like to thank everyone who attended. It was a great turnout, and I met a bunch of good people.

The winners:

Steve Hellums - Best R/T

BTPower - Racer's Choice

RIOT - Best 60'

Tracshun (Jay Nixon) - Lowest E.T.

I have a slew of pics and vid to sort through today. Look for them in another post.

So, here it goes…My first post. Just so happens it is related to this thread.

The track day put on by Chicago X, LET and CPT was by far the best automotive experience of my life. Made me feel like a kid again. All types of cars, and drivers of all ages, made this event one heck of a turn out. Not to mention, all the people were as welcoming as any “east coaster” could hope for

For those that don’t know, I drove all the way from upstate NY to attend the event and I was pleasantly surprised with every aspect of it. 12 hours each way and not a single hiccup. I even drove the car home the same day as the track event (arriving home at 3:30 a.m.) and it ran PERFECT. And, that was after “hot lapping” a few 11 second passes.

My best two passes were as follows:

Best Run

Reaction: .4790
60 Foot: 1.6582
1/8 ET: 7.5400
1/8 MPH: 91.43
1000’ ET: 9.8559
1/4 ET: 11.8070
1/4 MPH: 115.73

DA: 2122.4 (and rising )
Temp: 73.4 (and rising )

2nd Best Run

Reaction: .6249
60 Foot: 1.7042
1/8 ET: 7.5781
1/8 MPH: 91.84
1000’ ET: 9.8840
1/4 ET: 11.8288
1/4 MPH: 116.08

DA: 2247.1 (and rising )
Temp: 75.2 (and rising )

Even though the conditions were less than ideal for dragging, I was very pleased with consistent 60’s in the high 1.6s and low 1.7s.

Adjusting the numbers down to “sea level” or a DA of 0, it appears that these times are even more amazing (11.517 @ 118.72 and 11.519 @ 119.28 respectively) for just a pulley and a tune. Hats off to LET and CPT for their work on this car.

All in all, the car is just an absolute beast off the line now. The gains my car made with a simple “pulley and tune” upgrade were astronomical. And, keep in mind the only other time I took this car to the track was a few weeks ago in upstate NY (Lebanon Valley) with a bad IC pump. Results on that day were less than scintillating (best run of 12.7X @ 108.XX with a 1.85 60’), and the DA was MUCH better.

For those interested, on the cooling side of things, I simply had the LET HE installed with a new Johnson Pump by CPT (thanks again to Al and Paul). The only performance mods I had were the ASP pulley and LET’s custom tune. Details on my upgrades will be the subject of another upcoming thread (hopefully with graphs, etc.)

Thanks again to all involved and it was great to meet the Midwest crew!!

Thanks Juicee. I was VERY happy with my 60' times, especially the consistency (I ranged from 1.65 to 1.71 on EVERY run). From dragtimes and other internet searching, it appears that the 1.65 is right up there at the top for this car (all mods AND tires considered).

I also used local weather calculations in conjunction with weather underground (wunderground.com) and a really cool website I found at smokemup.com for my DA calculations. I think the track's numbers were even higher. For a small fee ($5.50 for 3 months), smokemup lets you figure out all kinds of calculations for just about every dragstrip in the US, past and present. It will even let you punch in your date, time and dragstrip, along with your 1/4 time and trap, and it will calculate it up or down to 0. I highly recommend it for anyone into this type of stuff.

For extra confirmation on my real time DA calculations, I even called Erick at LET during the track event and he checked the "real time" figures for me in between runs. Thanks again Erick

Onsite tuning and suggestions were provided by LET (thanks again Jerry) and CPT even followed me to the nearest gas station to make sure the car was ready for the 700 mile road trip home. Talk about service

All in all the track event was spot on. The cars that showed up were amazing to see in action, as well as just standing still. Especially those M cars (M5 and M6), phenomenal exhaust notes!!! Brian (BTPower) has probably one of the nicest M5s I have ever seen. Very tasteful upgrades Brian Chicago X ran my car against BTPower in one race head to head and both cars spun through the 60' and my car even had the BFGs!!! Both cars still ran low 12s and I think I have the race on video (mini DV - will try and upload).

LOL. that run against my M5 was SCARY. There were a few runs that I could not hook up until 3rd gear so I can't imagine what it was like for the E55 boys with all of that torque. Going sideways at the 60' (and beyond) is NOT good for your E.T...LOL.

Your car is a monster with an equally impressive driver...nice job.

BTW, I got a ticket 5 minutes after we split on our different ways going home (88 in a 70).

Sorry about the ticket Brian. Figures...we were being such good little boys while driving in tandem

Here is another timeslip from the track event.

Chicago/Midwest-PRIVATE TRACK DAY-May 17***-100_7705.jpg

On this one I was "talking on the phone" during the entire run (burnout and all). It was also one of my "hot laps" as I was calling a buddy in New York right after one of my better runs (he also has an E55). My friend asked me to stay on the phone for the next run and "describe" it to him. Gave him a blow by blow all the way down the track. The guy at the line was laughing his ars off when he saw me on the phone doing the burnout and approaching the line. Still pulled a pretty good run.

It was great seeing everyone, and thanks again to Wayne for organizing. He really went way above and beyond what a sane person would do - the effort he put forth is really amazing and he really deserves the utmost gratitude. Thanks again, Wayne.

I really have no idea how tracshun was able to hook up like that... I've cut 1.7s and even high 1.6s at numerous other drag strips with the same tires but there was just no hope of me getting anything lower than a 2.0 that day. Everyone else was complaining as well... track just didn't have the greatest prep work. For me, there was more enjoyment racing everyone than trying to get a stellar ET.

I was hoping to follow up my thread with results from my stage 1 mods, but I was having some belt/pulley issues that I need resolved first. That's for another thread...
