E55 Bodywork Ideas

Hey all,

I'm planning on doing "some work" to the 55 this spring and I'm considering some body work as well. Based on what I've seen, I don't really like any of the body kits out there ( e.g. Lorinser, Auto Couture, etc ). I think that they either make the car look worse or don't make any difference at all, neither of which justify the cost.

However, a few things I AM considering include:

1) Vorsteiner front lip ( pics below )

https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...ght=vorsteiner

2) Lorinser front fenders ( pics below )

https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...light=lorinser

IMO, these are the only 2 body enhancements that really make enough of a difference to justify the prices. I'm also pretty set on painting my roof black to go for the pano look and slapping on a CF roof spoiler while I'm at it. Any thoughts?

Not a big fan of the Lorinser fenders, but I do like the Vorsteiner front, and roof spoiler.

Lorinser fenders look very 1985.

However black roof would look cool just make sure to get a good job...

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah, I'm going to have to ask around for a very good body shop because the strips on the right nad left sides of the roof will have to be painted too and I don't want any imperfections.

As for the fender, I personally think they make the E look alot meaner. I feel as though the new MB lineup is making the W211 E look a little plain. So the fenders will help in that department. The only drawback is that they might attract a more attention that I want. I already get pulled over enough as it is...

Another thing that caught my eye is the Vorsteiner CF rear diffuser. I'm not sure if it fits the E55 but I'm going to find out on Monday. It looks alot nicer that the more common CF diffuser that they sell one ebay that looks exactly the same as the OEM one.

It costs $1100, but if it fits the E55, I think it would look nice. Does anyone know if this fits or have any pictures of it on the E55?

That is a nice looking rear diffuser.

Do you know if it has it been tunnel tested for functionality? If so, then $1,100 is well worth it.

Well according to the site, they said "To further enhance the styling and downforce of the rear end of the vehicle our designers have developed a lightweight carbon fiber aero diffuser which bolts onto the factory AMG rear bumpers. "

http://vorsteiner.com/mercedes/e55-diffuser.html#

I'm not sure if that means they tested it, but I think I'm adding it to my shopping list anyway...

Maybe a little off topic but just wanted to know what rims Slacker55 has on his car? I like the look of them from the picture. I have been looking to make a change from the stock rims and I definetly like the look of these. Thanks!

The way I see it, as long as you're talking about a W211 E55, there's no such thing as "off topic."

The rims I have are 19" Rays Lexion 503 diamond cut wheels. They fit pretty well but are a bit heavy. You can see pictures of it in the link below.

I think they are pretty good for the price, esp for me since I found a set on ebay for $1500 brand new and they retail for about $650 - $800 a piece.

But I'm going 20s soon and I'm probably going to get 360 forged spec 5ives.

Here's what i would do...
1. Paint the front grille and roof black.
2. Euroteck Carbon Fiber front lip. (Im not big fan of Vorsteiner's front lip)
3. Vorsteiner rear diffuser or wait for the Euroteck one to come out...
4. Renntech or 63 spoiler.
5. Renntech ELM to finish the project!

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm definitely getting the ELM. But it seems that nobody likes the lorinser fenders except for me. I guess we all have our own taste.

I was thinking about that CF front lip but I just think it doesn't make enough of a difference. I'm not sure what I want to do with the grille yet, but I guess we'll see...

But yeah..I'm expecting to do INSANE work to this car by May. I also plan to either go Kleeman or Renntech for the performance. I'm not sure which one is better. Most shops seem to favor Kleeman, and my original plan was to go K2, but if there are any better performance packages out there, I would consider them as well.

I was considering that too since I'm pretty set on the lorinser fenders but I'm not sure of there are any vented hoods in production. So if I do go for a vented hood, I'm probably going to get a custom job. My only concern is any potential damage under the hood if too much water goes in...

I haven't seen anyone with a vented hood, but I sure would. I've read somewhere in this forum that people were considering custom jobs but I'm not sure if anyone actually committed to it.

It seems that not many people want to do anything visually drastic to their Es. Maybe it's because doing so will kill the whole "sleeper" concept. Either that or they just don't want to decrease the resale value.

Btw...I really liked your Antisocial Behavior writeup. That should serve as the "E55 Manifesto" or something...
