He got it fixed and put in a LSD. Went back to the track to run this time yesterday. And apparently broke an axle towards the end of the day

Congrats stephen. I'm away on vacation and ahmad alerted me to this thread. W0W is all I can say, talk about setting the bar higher, 105+ in the 1/8 is sick!! Broken axles suck but at least you are identifying the weak parts of the drivetrain and axles can be too expensive.

Of course there are no sources for axles except for the dealer. My price is $1200 list...arrgh. I can get it for $1000 because I have an inside man there at the dealer. My car ran 11.29@123 yesterday without nitrous but has run 11.27@121.88 in the past without N20. I launch at approx 1800rpm and hit the spray after the launch. My best 60' yesterday was a 1.594 but the rest of the run was the slowest of the day for some reason. I broke the rear at the end of last season and the Kleemann LSD seemed to work fine with some slight moaning after a healthy burnout. I will get a video uploaded soon and update my timeslip at dragtimes.com. Anyone have some axle ideas for beefier units?

Glad to see the third member held up for your blistering run.
But damn your gonna need containment for your drive line Stephen.
I think that AMG performance studio offers stronger Euro axles for the E they might have same for S class.

A couple people were taking video and taking some still pics as well. They are going to e-mail them to me in the next few days. I'll get them posted as soon as I get them. My timeslip is coming shortly.

If they will give us a better deal on 2 pairs I will order a pair for my car as well.

You spray immediately after the launch?

hey stephen (and other n2o guys),

so you start spraying right after launch. can i take this to mean, as soon as you're confident that you have traction? does this mean you're still in 1st? are you also spraying through shifts?

I actually didn't spray until shortly after the launch and traction was good.* It broke shortly after the starting line but not at the launch.* Of course it broke in 1st and it had not shifted into 2nd at that point.* I cannot spray through the 1-2 shift as the car will shut down totally if that happens as some sort of "torque limit" protection.* I lift the N20 button slightly at the 1-2 and have got it timed pretty well after a few passes.* After the 1-2 I do not lift at all until I get to the finish line.

that's why i was asking. this tq limiting software has me worried and i didn't think you could get through the 1-2 shift without going into limp mode.

good info, thanks.

On the 55 the problem seems to be first gear, I typically spray it at the top of first right before the shift and stay wot the whole time. I' think our cars don't make enough torque even on the nos to go into limp mode on the 1-2 shift. To hit it in first the minute you roll out requires a very good track and dr's are a must. MIR on a rental is such a track and I missed my chance .

At moroso any attempt to spray before the 60ft would result in tire spin. As you know the 60ft will make or break your et.

Our cars will need a looser convertor to run 1.5's and will most likely require aftermarket drive-train components at that stage imho.
