time for a E55

im looking to cross over to the benz e55; however, i have a few questions.

can i buy a factory extended warranty if i buy a used e55 from a private or non mercedes dealership?

what years should i stay away from? im looing between the 03-05's.

is 50-60K miles too much for these cars?

how many miles can you expect out of these cars?

any "gremlins" i should know about or look for?

anything else you guy can add to help me out?

thanks.

So far the most reliable car I have had (1 year of ownership). Get a warranty, because parts are expensive and buy a good car with a good history. This car eats brakes and tires so check them. Cant help you with the warranty, because dont live in the US. The car has to light up the tires when accelerating and feel really fast. If it feels slow and nonresponsive, it might be the IC pump failure. The car has to feel really like new, no faults or squeeks. If there is anything you find out of place it is not normal, these cars are very reliable. AutoZeitung tested one for 100000km, no faults except bad mileage and many new tires. They had some kind of hose lose at 69000 km but the fix was to tighten the hose.

Happy huinting!

See my post below "Buying Extended Warranties". Great cars, IMHO go for an o5/06, prices are really dropping on these cars right now.

Most notably -
mid-late 2005 had:
higher speedo (200mph vs. 160mph)
aluminum studded pedals vs. black ones
sliding cupholder armrest vs. flip out cupholder and folding armrest
There are a few others but those are the main cosmetic changes....
