Just browsing for an SL65...

Have you guys seen the latest Kelly Blue Book values for an SL65...I was interested in a 2005 w/ 7000miles and KBB has trade in value @ approx. 90K and retail value @ 99K!!! That has got to suck for the original owner...

The ad for the SL65 asking price is $122K...no wonder it hasn't sold yet (7/7 initial ad date). I saw an ad for a 2008 for $197K...I would have to be smoking crack if I paid that new knowing how the market for this car is (actually any 65 car)...

2005 E55 Black / Black Every available option except Sat radio
According to some on here all AMG's have really crashed but as soon as you add up the option list on the available cars versus the stripped one's they quote they start to add up. I listed a $97 K sticker E55 on here and they all said I was way too high but came up with cars that had a $11 K sticker less as examples and called them loaded.

If you want a car with all the toys, you have to pay for it. If you want a stripped car just to say you have one go for the cheapest one and say wow look at me.

Personally speaking, the option list helps make the car that much better. If it's missing pano, massage / active heat-cool seats and all the buttons you have a useless car. You might as well run 87 octane as well and pretend like you have the right version. Stripped Silver turds are a dime a dozen and then toss in non-CPO certified one's and you have nothing. I would rather have all the buttons and pay for it then be missing things and be like why did i buy this car.

Hey AMGfan, don't mean to get off topic, but I was just wondering what's up with your VRP head and cam mod? Is your engine back together and if so, how is she running?

I don't know...I clicked all available options on the KBB site (except designo) and the private sale value only went up to 93K for a car in "excellent" condition.

The 2005 w/7000miles I was looking at was fully loaded and they were asking $122K for it, which in my estimation is over-reaching considering the market for these cars. Heck...I could get a 2006 fully loaded with 6500miles for a little bit more ($126K). I don't want to screw the seller, but offer a fair price based on the current value that I can get from my bank.

My main reason for getting the SL65 isn't for the "toys" but two itches I'd like to scratch...a hard top convertible and the 65 engine. I could care less if it had pano or keyless go. The MB nav and audio sucks and I could get better in the aftermarket arena...

I've got about 2 more weeks before everything is put back together...I ended up getting PTE to port and tune the heads (to save time shipping back and forth to Canada) and also install the VRP cams...

In a day or so, my ECU should be back from Vadim with the VR700 ECU flash (thanks Jim "JakPro", Victor, and Vadim). Also, C2Design still has to install the VRP I/C upgrade, VRP long-tube headers and VRP straight pipe, and Vorsteiner CF rear diffuser...

Then about 1000 miles break-in on the "new" engine and finally dyno testing after the break-in...I can finally see the end coming...

Very good. Sounds like you're getting very close to having one fast beast! I haven't heard anything so I wasn't sure where your project was currently at. Keep us updated with your project bro!

My 5.7L is complete but still in Canada. It should be shipped to CA in a week or so and then the transplant will start, but I'm still a long time away from my project being completed.

I know man, I can't wait to drive it. Dude, I can't even wait to hear it!
Yeah, I would say it should take another 3 months. The tuning will take the most time. Hopefully Vadim and George will be able to get the Komperssor to work with turbos. Well see!

Do all your options make your car go faster and handle better? If they do then I guess I need to quickly sell my useless silver turd with SAT RADIO for a fully optioned car! I'm glad you set me straight, thanks!

You bought a car for its buttons? That's gotta be a first.

I like my Stripped Silver Useless Turd.... it's just as fast as the loaded ones.
Is it considered useless if you have a CPO? If not, I've just got a plan SST.
