Full VRP700hp Review. What a weekend! Wild story!!!
Sorry so long. It's been a long time coming.
Okay, I first wanted to apologize for the short review in the other thread after I got my car back. Here is what happened. I get the car off the truck and warm it up. The driver is admiring the lope and the neighbors are all coming out to check er out. This is it, the moment I have been waiting for. I get in her and one of the teenage kids in the neighborhood gives me the sign for "light um up". Don't usually do it, but I punched it right down to the floor. To my surprise, nothing happened. Car kinda bogged to its power band and once there it rev'd nice and hard.......but NO tire spin. Our cars are so impressive sound wise etc, I am sure they loved it buy I am driving out of the neighborhood wondering what is happening. Pulled out on local highway and same thing, car bogged at first, then once up in rpm's, she pulled nice and hard. It was faster than before but what the heck was the bogging thing???
Now we all saw the dyno chart and Victor himself took it around the block a few times and told me, "This is without a doubt, the fastest Benz I have ever driven and pretty much the fastest car I have driven".
Again, I totally realize that I am nearly a mile high in altitude and kinda chalked it up to high altitude and went home impressed but somewhat bummed. I posted that the car is faster and you can read where I mention how "smooth" it felt. Talked to my tech and he was just as stunned as he has been following the thread so closely. He mentioned that they sometimes get cars in from Benz that have been tested down at near 0 alt in Cali and sometimes they won't even start up here. He suggested to try clearing the ECU with battery disconnect as the car literally went from near ZERO altitude to 4300ft in one swoop. ECU probably was having a cow.
I disconnected the battery Sat night and honestly with a family and kids etc, Sunday got taken up doing "good dad things" but the whole day I kept wondering what happened the night before. Did the battery disconnect work?? Was it really gonna help THAT much?? Put the kids down tonight (Sunday) and I say to the wife, "I can't friggin take it anymore; I gotta go start her up and see". I go out to the garage and fire it up. Pretty much sounds like when I took it off the truck. Strong clean start and lopey cam. I let her warm up and gave it a couple of punches. Swear to you, I felt like she was saying, "Come on Jim, try me now. " I walk into the kitchen the wife literally is waiting and hands me the keys. She knew I had to drive it and put this to rest.
I get the car out into the street and of course it's Sunday night so I cruise it out like a good boy into the main street. I start to accelerate and supercharger engagement is back to being violent and rough....just the way daddy likes it. My heart starts beating, ohhhhh something is different. I have one little stretch before I get to our highway and I punched it there. Again, car felt just evil and raw, now I felt like I was having V-Fib.
Get to the highway and let her rip. HO LEE *****, my baby was back and THEN some. Pinned back to the seat as the ESP light is going crazy and that is just from a 10-15mph roll around the intersection to get on. Car pulled so hard my neck actually felt a little funny and like many of you, I was instantly back to when I first bought the car and felt that mind blowing torque. It had been the ECU having panic attacks all along. She was now reset for 4300ft and loving every minute of her new settings.
Now the test. Road is dead on Sunday night do I slow down and stop right in the middle lane and let it rip. Wanted to see what happened if I kept it in M mode for fun. Car literally came up in R's so fast with spinning etc, that it banged off the rev limiter and went right to 2nd and I let off kinda stunned. I just never had it do this to me before. This was a whole new car.
I called Victor yelling and screaming at near Midnight his time and he was just so excited that I felt what he felt in Cali. Told him everything that happened over the weekend and he was just so happy that this had such a happy ending.
I get off the phone with him and of course up next to me comes a kid in his newer GT stang. I felt like telling him, "Dude, you are gonna be the inaugural kill for me man!! Hope you know how special this kill is gonna be for me when I smear you." Kill is a no brainer but I swear to you, I literally need to relearn how to launch this car now. I like to let guys get the jump as it takes away the bad launch excuse so I usually start the killing rolling in M mode until I see them come into side view, then lay the hammer down. Same thing happened this time as the test run. Car came up in R's so damn fast, it banged the limiter and slammed right into 2nd.
I feel like I have a TOTALLY new car and I am so excited to get her out this week and get to know her all over again.
Tonight made all of the past 2 months, all the drama of the supercharger, all the questions and concerns, the highs and lows all worth while.
I am SO HAPPY with this car and to Victor and Vadim, my eternal thanks. Just can't imagine what Havoc and some of the other guys are going to feel with even more hp in their cars. For me, for now, this is enough and I am so pleased. Heh heh, later this summer, welllllll.
Thanks again!!!
Jim

Hey Jim!!!
As you can see, I am still up!
I am so glad you are having fun and enjoying the car... Just wait until those unsuspecting Porsche and Viper guys roll up on your beast...
Looking forward to some action videos.
Take care buddy!

Awesome!!! Looking forward to see how it stacks up against another built car.
We need some of this real world testing on the streets & drags so we know where our stuff ranks compared to the competition.
