Yep. I have massive hands. The rock actually weighs 2.3 Kourics.

J/K. It's my wedding ring. It is super-comfortable.

Transferred: I was running stock, rain-guards intact when the 'pebble' found its way into the airbox. It completely destroyed the K&N.

As far as the soft hands comment goes, both of my masseuses get credit....it wouldn't be fair to single out one over the other, since they're twins.

That looks like a very nice mod, I know my Black Series was being choked from the factory, Evosport made some improvments but there is more to be had.

UPDATE:
Found out the only difference between the dyno runs on 4/26 Saturday and 4/28 Monday was the hood being opened on Monday. With the hood opened more air was rammed into the engine and my Superchips remapped ECU didn't compensate by dumping more gas to maintain the 12.x:1 A/F mixture (I put the "x" the b/c I forgot the exact number). I think for the 63 engine, stock is 11.3:1. The engine started to run lean and a few cylinders (1,2,3,4) started to misfire. I was told that Superchips remap takes a couple hundred miles to adapt to new mods, so by the time I take it back to San Diego from Paramount, it should almost be adapted to the scoops.

No, that was not the case. Stock Mass-Air meters have +/- 30% adaptation range. Which means 350-650HP.

You had missfire codes on one cylinder bank.

Where did the shop hook up RPM pick-up?

It sounds to me like they disconnected a half of the harness and DME datalogged it.

Hi Vadim,
I met you at the Wheel Power Meet a couple weeks back. I had mentioned to you that I stopped by VRP and picked up the high flow air filters a few months ago. Unfortunately, you weren't there so I didn't get to meet you then.

Anyway, I was told that the harness was not touched at all.

Dyno after fabricating prototype ram air scoops. For those that are familiar with dynos, Dyno Dynamics read very conservative numbers.

Vegas, how did they read RPMs?

Is CEL still on?

I had a dynojet for 8 years so I am VERY familiar with how the Dynojet and Dyno Dynamics machine work. Anyhow, on the Dyno Dynamics there is an RPM learn function where we can tell the dyno what rpm we are at with what speed. This is very helpful when we have dyno days as we can set the rpm/tach/speed ratio and be done with it. The rpms were calibrated at 3000 rpm and at 7000 rpm.

After dynoing the car with the hood open the CEL came on and cyl 1, 2, 3, 4 had misfire codes. The AFM fault code also apeared. We checked the plugs and saw that 1, 2, 3 and 4 were running lean. Cleaned the plugs, cleared the codes and ran it again with the hood closed and the car is fine now. Now, we have to see how the car performs on the road at at speed.

On the E60 M5, we saw similar problems with guys that were running certain aftermarket tunes that werent able to compensate for the extra air coming in. At 130mph + the car would go into limp mode.

ChicagoX: how did that rock get passed your grills? I would have thought a rock that size would have cracked your grills open before it can get into your intake ducting. That is VERY strange how it got in there. It would have had to crack your grill, get behind it, find its way to the top of the duct, come back down, then shoot backwards towards the filters. Maybe some magical midget elf came at night and tried to ruin your car?

I am sorry my friend, I just do not see how a scoop attached to the stock inlet tube, running on the chassis dyno in stationary environment will overrange factory Mass-Air Meter.

He has other problem with the car and it has nothing to do with the scoops.

No worries, I'm going in for Service F soon and ask them to run a diagnostic at the same time.

Dammit, I wanted a rematch with you. Now, it's not possible.

For those interested Goatspeed is pretty much stock except for the VRP air filters and removal of the charcoal filters. We did a few runs together but never went at the same time. He was in 3S and I was in DS from a rolling start @60. By the time my car downshifted to 3rd he was a few cars in front. Yes, I know I should have been in 3S as well. The irony is I'm the on that told him about downshifting from DS to 3S when running someone.

No,

Why???

Because I do not think they make any difference in power.
