Dealer Flash

I need some assistance in trying to determine a possible fault with my hesitation. MBUSA has decided that it is normal..so no use in going back to them. The dealer will work with me, but until the car does it all of the time, he can't do anything about it. My last visit to the dealer, he tried to re-flash it with a new engine up-date. The mechanic who did the flash ( I was there with him), had everything pluged up ok....the computer downloaded the flash, but then an error code came up saying that the flash did not take. He retried it again...same results, however, he then manually went and checked the version of my ECU, and it was the same as the flash that he tried to put in, but it came back with an error ssaying that it did not complete the installation. The SA told me that the reason it did not take, was because that there was an issue, however, my engine was not part of the issue that was getting the reflash......sounds logical, but would like an opinion from someone who is more versed on engine flashes..............!!

BTW...still have the hesitation...thought it was fixed...but its not.

Walt you must have enough visits to the dealer to qualify for a lemon law suit.

Have they tried turning up the idle 75 -100 ? The hesitation is off idle is it not?

If you don't have a lemon yet, that dealership will make lemonade out of it!!

I can't believe they just tried to flash your car with a flash that the VIN wasn't calling for... . I assume they did that just to appease you? If so, keep at it and keep the invoices for everything and be sure that they document EVERYTHING. Do not let them fix anything without an invoice and it written. Add a little sugar and stir ......

Yes, the hesitation is off idle.....biut it does not do it all of the time...mostly when driving fast......come to a quick stop......and then try to accelerate and it bogs....sometimes severe..sometimes not so....I am sure everyone is tired reading about my "hesitation"....but damn.....like the car, just not the problem. Had a MBUSA rep (SPOM) ride in it with me....he did feel something at first, then said it was "normal"....then said he wants to compare another E63 with mine and see if it has issues. Hell I know that there were other people on this board that have the same issue as I do.......but still MBUSA won't admit to it. The dealer is real good about it and wants to work with me, but I live 2 hours (one way) from him, and taking it is a pain, especially if it does not do it all of the time. That's why I thought that some of you guys that have good dealer connections might have a clue or a different approach. I have posted on the "private lounge" my issues, and they (MBUSA) have responded, but not with a fix, but that the car is normal, and just the nature of it, which I have a hard time accepting their excuse. I drive a Chevy as a company car, and crap.........I can floor it, hard stop, whatever, and it does not bog like my "63". Its not that something might be wrong with the car, but it takes away the pleasure of driving the vehicle......somehow...MBUSA don't see it like that!!!!

Dude, I was being serious. The fact that your dealership continues to take the car in and write up a service invoice shows that they are being good to you. I wasn't kidding about keeping all the docs and lemoning the thing. What state are you in? MBUSA will never care until you meet a certain profile. Until then, they will hope that you bark until your lungs run dry. Unfortunately, you have to jump through the proper hoops to get it done, but stay calm and understand itis simply a process and nothing personal.

I don't get this same hesitation, but I do get some slight hesitation from 2nd to 3rd from time to time, often more exaturated if car is cold.

So what happened when they drove other E63s? Did these cars also have the same hesitation?

They have not compared mine to any other E63's, they are going to locate one and let me drive it and see if it does the same thing....don't know what that will prove...but I will go along...ANYTHING to get the issue solved. The best way to replicate the issue is to drive quick, and come down to a stop, and then try and accelerate...it will bog....then catch and jump! The thing is that I can do the same thing with my company car...and it won't do that...hate to think that the MB vehicles will!

Early on in the release of any new component, MB will not allow the dealerships to tear that part down. Instead, they get the entire thing shipped back to germany to get stripped and looked at. This is what happened with a utt load of the 7g trannys that came out. Later, they let the dealers start doing repairs.
Same goes for the 63 motor. It is new and there will be bugs. The only time they will have the part swapped out is if they don't yet have a fix.
