They seem to be dropping every week! Usually, for car of this caliber, the depreciation curve tends to stabalize and folllow a "normal" drop after 1/2 the price is gone. But will that even happen? How low will these cars keep going?

It seems that ebay is a accurate representation of supply, demand and the economy. Or are the prices low on their because of the risk involved of buying?
I guess, there is the price the cars are....and then there is the price that the cars are selling for. Big difference.

Nice. Well, that is where I am confused. There is Blue Book and then there is ebay. Do the Blue Book values factor in the economy, supply and demand into their price assements? It doesn't seem like it.

Well now I've got to quote myself and correct that - I just looked today and there are a couple below 40, one at 39,995 and another at 37,999. Great deals!

Well, watch out for that 39,995 one. I test drove it and I had to cut the drive short because it felt unstable. Someone beat the crap out of that one everyday, engine wise and interior wise. The odo said 30k miles....It felt like it had 100K miles on it...and the interior looked it too.

KBB values are pretty much meaningless.Dealers use Manheim Auction prices&99% of the time the wholesale price the cars sell at are what influences the actual value of your car.It sucks, but thats how it is.With lease specials on new cars it's very hard to get somebody to pay top dollar for an E55 thats 3-5years old
The wholesale value of my less then 1yr old E63 is $62,000&thats disgusting.

Agreed!!! I have seen some ****-poor examples in the low 40s to low 30s. I drove several before I found mine and I was amazed at how abusive people were to their cars!

Most likely going to throw it on e-bay,or put it on my dealers lot on consignment.
Then I'm going to find a clean low mileage E55&mod the hell outta it since there's plenty out there in the $40k range

I have seen 03s in the high $20s.
Over the past year the E55s have been depreciating at $1K a month.
When they reach the low $20s (in the next 10 months) they will be worth twice as much parted out.

do you have one now or looking to buy one? or just looking to stir up some argument? not just the E55 but everything else out there is dropping in value...

Naw, I have one, but was just trying to get a feel for these cars and when to sell. I was hoping that AMG cars weren't like every other and would stabalize higher than others. Oh well.

2004 E55 AMG
Bought fully loaded black on Black 2004 E55 AMG two weeks ago. PERFECT condition, 30k miles, all service records. Lawyer's wife's car.
Paid $38k. Carfax showed body work done. Turns out the wife had smacked the door open on something in the garage and they had the dent pulled. Damn dirty carfax. They hadn't had anyone even look at the car in three months.

This is a depressing thread. I'm so upside down on my 05 that I can't afford to sell it or trade it (not that I want to). Anyway, I'm shocked that my car has depreciated over $10K since I bought it used less than a year ago. According to one of the national news media reports one in every five cars sold in the USA is now an econo box; it used to be one in eight. I think this is also contributing to the steep depreciation curve of any high performance gas guzzling exotic. The day is not far off where a 2-3 year old $25K hybrid will be worth more than a 4-5 year old AMG or BMW M. -IMHO-

I'd rather take a little bit of a loss now as compared to next year when the2010 E class debuts&the W211 plummets in value.I get bored very quickly with cars&never keep them more then a year or so

Well, sorry for the tone of this thread...didn't mean to depress some people. But after researching, every model and make is taking a hit.
Good news is that hopefully when the economy and demand picks back up, prices will stabalize better and we'll be back in the game!
I really don't care....I could be losing more in the market right now and never recover. At least cars put a smile on my face!
