The picture is not a photographic image. It is a data file. Zeros and ones is all we have. The placing of a white box is acomplished by the manipulation of the data with mathematics. If you use the same process to remove the box, the data (of the original image) is still there. Archimedes would be proud.

I am fairly certain it is the same guy that scammed me. I spoke to another guy who got scammed on the audizine forum. There are posts going up all over on various forums ...selling wheels, to cell phones to computer systems from the guy that scammed me. His style is just like his ad here, that said they could be different scam artists. I spoke to my local authorities about investigating the guy / I need the authorities to get paypal summoned for personal info released.

The link was posted on X5 World and I believe many of us have been following this. As far as I know this P.O.S. hasn't scammed any of us there. I've read every post so I have a few hours invested here like many of you do. Maybe someone in the area of his home could do a watch with a video camera so we don't miss the arrest!

I had some work to do at home after work. I began working on the computer, and then decided to check this thread. I was at page 12 when I last read in the morning before work. When I checked after work, it was at page 30+. Instead of working, I kept reading. I got tired. I drank a massively huge cup of coffee at around 1:00 AM. I finished my work at 2:30 AM (while reading this thread intermittently). Now it's 4:23 AM here. This thread ruined my workday. I hate this BJ Smith guy. I love this forum. Go MBWorld. I need some more coffee before I go to work.

Also, for the last time - I did NOT use Photoshop to reveal the tags.
Only two alternate scenarios are possible with the tag numbers:
1. The car is not his or his Dad's (i.e. he used somebody else's car photos), or..
2. He specifically inserted, rasterized, and merged an image of a different license plate into his photo and then ingeniously inserted a white box over it.

With my VISA cards I can actually call in to the customer service line to review (verbally, obviously) the transactions that have not posted to my account yet. Perhaps you both could do this to expedite things and find out if it's really gone through.

Status now is that I have received the chargeback from google checkout to my discover card!
I knew something had transpired when google checkout sent me a link to a survey of how they did. I let them know in detail what I thought about it...with a link to here also so they could see what happened...and possibly help with these in the future.
Again, a BIG thanks to the community for helping to get my refund! Please know that this is STILL moving forward and will only end with his arrest.

I realise you’re all revelling in what a good job you’ve done at uncovering so much information, and too am quite impressed, but nothing is actually going to happen here unless one or more victims contact the local police and file a complaint. That’s the only way that the mug shots will get posted.
