Is something wrong with my Suspension ?

Hey All,

For example I drove around for about an hour with my suspension setting on COMFORT... When I pulled into my driveway and put the car in park, I pushed the suspension button twice and left it on Sport 2 (this should normally lower the car) Right ? After I shut the car off with the suspension on Sport2- I got out and waited about 10-15 minutes but the car didnt lower it self at all. I could literally put both my middle and index finger on top of the tire and under the well.. The floor on my driveway is flat and wasnt on an angle or anything.. I remember that normally with the suspension setting on Sport2 I couldnt even get 1 finger in there..
Thanks for the feedback

Correct me if i'm wrong but you have to drive it just a little for it to lower in the Sport 2 setting. I don't think it lowers immediately when you're in Park and press the Sport 2 button.

I'm not sure if Sport 2 lowers the suspension. I'll check mine later today and let you know. I was under the impression that it only "stiffens" the suspension not lower it. Can anybody confirm this?

The car lowers 10mm in sports II.

I noticed that when you drove the car very hard it would sit even lower (hard cornering) when you came to a stop. I used to measure it and it was 10mm for sports II and 5 mm lower sometimes if you were flying around like a crazy man.

I believe if you push the raise button and then wait 20 seconds and lower it again it will then sit in the sport II height. Of course you could also drive it around and it will lower as well.

if u want to raise and or lower the car and see results immediately
without driving try the following.

put the car in the desired mode, sport 2, 1 comfort, raise mode, what ever.....

---> then, put the car from park into revrse, hold for 3-7 secs, move into Neutral, hold for a few secs, then into drive, back into N, reverse, move back few feet then back into n, then back into Drive...

car will lower or raise!!! U can even see it moving with door open!~

I was under that impression orginally, too,
I know it lowers slightly from regular confort mode to SPORT 1 a few mm

but I was told by the mercedes dealer chief mechanic, and also by
a MB tech support guy , that it does not lower more from sport 1 to sport 2,
but sport 2 merely stiffens the suspension, rebound, and reaction of the system slightly for better handling..

this they said was because the system already lowers in sport 1,
and again more at above 85km a hour on highway, so it cannot continue to lower in sport 2 to account for the speed lowering..at higher speed..
IE, if you were in SPORT 1 mode and then were going 85 on the highway
whereby the car lowered another 5mm, to its high speed setting,
and then you switched on Sport 2 mode, it would not lower more, as it maybe too low then..

I have not stood outside the car at 85 kph to see if it lowers more while in sport 2, LOL, for obvious reasons, but I assume the mechaincs were corrrect in saying this.

in the end.. we are at least blessed to have 3 -4 suspension settings..

Why do you even continue posting here? You have absolutely NO credibility.

You suck at quoting too.

You can change the settings to lower or raise, but depending on the road conditions, driving style or fuel levels, the computer overrides youjr settings.

Per the online e-class manual:

http://www4.mercedes-benz.com/e/cars...D2.html#N1C5B3

Vehicle Level

Your vehicle automatically adjusts its ride height to reduce petrol consumption and improve driving safety.

Normal

Raised

Lowered

The "Normal" and "Raised" vehicle levels can be set manually.

at speeds above 140 km/h

if you have selected "Sports tuning I or II"

Comfort or sports tuning

Airmatic DC (dual control) comprises two components: the Adaptive Damping System (ADS) and spring stiffness adjustment.

ADS automatically regulates the suspension as appropriate to particular driving conditions. Parallel to this, the spring stiffness switches between "comfort" and "sports" levels.

your driving style

the road surface conditions

your individual selection

Press button once.

One indicator lamp lights up.

The vehicle level is lowered by 10 mm.

Press button twice.

Two indicator lamps light up.

The vehicle level is lowered by 15 mm.
