GT 500 Shelby vs. E55

Anybody run one of these yet? It looks like a good race on paper against a stock E.

you nailed it...it's a good race "on paper". just like corvettes, they're hard to launch and at the track seldom (if ever) run what they "should". from a roll, they're very close to the 55 so if you let them get the jump you'll be playing catch up for a long time.

they're 10x cheaper and easier to mod so i'm sure there won't be many stock ones left for long. in that case, you need to make sure you race from a dig and let them play catch up!

Arrow CLS63 vs Ford GT500

I raced from 15 or 20 to 100...a couple of times...If he hit it first, it took me just a bit to catch up but then I passed him and kept pulling...If I got the jump first, he could never catch up...

that's kind of what I figured. heatsoak doesn't seem to effect him like it does my E here in Hawaii, thats what I'm worried about.

Here is my experience with the Shelby GT 500:

A stock one will run 12.15-12.25 all night long and consistent. There are a couple of them that show up at the track when I am there.

However, the last time I was there, a Shelby GT 500 ran an 11.342 and was booted off the track. I suspect he was highly modified.

So stock to stock, I would say the Shelby is faster. Most of our Stockers don't run 12.15-12.25 more like 12.35-12.5 or so.

wow! i've yet to see a stock or even mildly modified shelby run mid 12's let alone very low 12's. i would need to see it to believe that they're stock (all the way down to the tires).

Hey Mikey,

Check out Dragtimes. There are a couple stockers running low 12's. These guys I see at the track know how to drive them. They are regulars.

I ran with one it was a kid with his dad in the car he had no idea what he was doing. He would pull up next to me look at me and gun it I kept trying to do 3 honks and he would just take off. I finally forgot about it and gunned it when he was near me he took off a little after but I kept pulling and he never caught up. Not a real race and no where near something you can base either cars performance on but I mean it didnt like blow my doors off like that stage III S4 did!
