About to step into a 05 e55
I've spent the last few weeks educating myself on the w211 e55. I've been searching for the right e55 at the right price. I'm about to pull the trigger on a 2005 e55 loaded with everything except distronic and ventilated seats. It has 33k miles on it and i've got the price down to $36,995. Is this a fair price? Is there anything in particular I should look for. I'm trying to get the dealer to give me the service records. It looks like the car was a corporate lease.
The next question is, should I buy or lease it? I've been looking around and it looks like I can do a 36 month lease on the car with 15k miles/year and pay about $555/month with nothing down. It's through leasecompare dot com. Any suggestions?
Any advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Perhaps you should consider getting an E55 that's certified and has a warranty to 100,000 miles. You're probably about 1yrs drive of being out of warranty and if something goes, be prepared to spend mucho dolores to repair. My M5 is gone when it hits about 48000 miles. I'm not owning cars like this out of warranty and I'm not a big fan of aftermarket warranty programs.

Appreciate the responses. I've checked the carfax no salvage title. No accidents reported and I've confirmed with the dealer that there is no accident history. There is about one year of warranty remaining and I planned on purchasing warranty through Mercedes before the current warranty expires. Also considered aftermarket warranty.
My big dilemma is whether to lease or purchase. If I lease, I would just get a two year extended warranty. I'm hesitant to tie equity up in this car especially if prices keep dropping.

Concerning your question on Lease vs. Purchase and other peoples extended warranty comments? If you are planning on a lease don't plan on making many changes/mods, they will whack you when you go turn it in if EVERYTHING is not stock. If you plan on taking the purchase option at the end of the lease, then don't worry about it and mod away. As for the extended warranty, make sure you are not wasting your money, again if you make any mods at all you run the risk of voiding your warranty and you just pissed away a few thousand$$$ for a warranty that is not worth the sheet of paper it's written on.
I hope you enjoy your new ride.

Dude that is a sweet deal - kinda sucks that i am paying almost $1400 a month for my 63! However - BUY do not lease. At the end the car is yours - you get nothing for a lease and it is not that much cheaper. I am pretty adverse to leases - and I am a business owner. However, to each his own.

I just got a 2006 with 19,800 miles for $47,000. I would say that is a very good deal. If it all checks out and you want the car, do it. I am very happy with mine. Just picked it up on Friday.

Took the plunge. The purchase is contingent upon everything checking out with Mercedes service. Anything in particular I should have them pay attention too? Also, I am considering purchasing either the Daimlerchrylser or MBUSA warranty. Anyone have any experiences with the Daimlerchrysler warranty. From the research I've done its seems to be on the up and up. Appreciate all the responses. Thanks guys.
