Pricing opinions: what should a 2005 go for?
A friend wants to buy a CPO'd E55. I advised him to buy a 2005, like mine, and he insists on getting a CPO out to 100k miles. He lives in the S.F. area.
He's found a match with 30k miles but few options. Here's the link:

They claim that the CPO only goes for another 12 months from the 5 year initial warranty and they want a bunch more $ to extend it to 2012. $48,751 seems WAAAAAY high to me. I'm thinking he should offer them $43k MAX, maybe $44k if they CPO it for the 7/100 instead of 5/100.
What say ye, my brothers? I don't think the CPO warranty should add as much to the price as they are asking. As I recall, it only costs the dealer ~$2,500 to CPO a car, though I may have the details wrong on that...
Send your thoughts,
Skeeter

2005 E55, 2002 CLK55, 2005 SLK350 also a 2009 BMW 335-IX
Where are the original twin spoke wheels?
Red flag for me... If that is the actual car in the Autotrader ad...
Did someone have a run in with a highway divider? What does the Carfax say? Have you been under the car for a look?
And are the wheels that are on there now staggered and the right sizes?
As for the CPO thing and the price... I paid more for my 2005, but it had only 5K miles on it, immaculate condition, and 19" AMG two piece wheels.
The PO had bought a CLK BS to replace the E55... not too bad. I sat in that one... WOW!

I bought my 2004 E55 in october of 07 and it was fully loaded with 19K miles. They gave it to me for $50,000 and were holding $52,500. I would agree with you on that the price he should pay. I would pay low 40'z.

I had an 05 lease with 28,000 miles and a buy-out of $44,000. I say play hardball and get as close to 40g or below as you can.
This is a great time to get a two year old $100,000 monster sedan for under $40,000.
