Has the car been abused?
*repost*
I just purchased a used E63 and immediately upon 2 days of general use, I received a check engine light.
When I brought the vehicle to another dealer, they said it was an "Intake Manifold gasket" failure and had to be replaced.
Not that I can do much about it, but is it an indication of previous hard use/abuse? Is this a common problem?

No it doesn't mean the car has been abused.
I wouldn't call it a common issue, although I have seen it on a few other 63 engines. There was a DTB out for this issue, but it only applied to the ML and R class.
Don't worry though. Enjoy it and beat the crap out of it. Thats what it was built for.

This simply means the previous owner failed to do the TSB. This piece failed on all early build sixty threes. Congrats on yer purchase drive hard!
