Maybe no one?
What's the weather like this time of the year? We're used to 70-80 degrees in November in Atlanta. I'm considering driving up and am shopping around for a co-driver. I might talk my dad into it - he used to wrench and test drive for his cousins '62 Corvette (super gas, I think) and would probably love to make a pass or two.
Depending on $$$, I may get a tune before then.

Haven't taken it to the track yet so I don't know. I don't think this car can afford to spot out any lengths....never have any traction and it runs much slower as soon as it reaches operating temperature. I don't think they make thermalnators for it. I can spot you 3 lengths but you have to let me leave first. How does that sound? No nitrous on my car and probably won't be this year.

Honest, no offense but I can read today's weather report. I'm asking about mid-November.
EDIT: This is what I'm getting at. 44 degrees average is a bit chilly to stand around in the parking lot shooting the **** all day.

I'd be in for sure if there was some sort of elimination type ladder or direct competition format. I love hanging out and making passes and all, but to drive all the way there to just make passes seems less stimulating to me. How about an extra $25 per person as an option to run in the "shootout" and go from there? Even if 4 people enter, that's a full tank of good gas to the winner. Who would be in?...A few people I can think of that would enter and engage in a contest....

Anyone else?
Post if you'd be up for a little competition.....first annual "Mercedes Benz North America Shootout"........Remember, the faster car doesn't always win. There will be traction issues and reaction times to consider.

My best 60's on each of those tires:
MT - Haven't tried yet and will be on 16's so it isnt a fair comparison
BFG - 1.66
R888 - consistent low 1.7x
RA1 - also consistent low 1.7x
What size wheel are these going on? 18's I'm assuming. If you decide that you want to go with R888's and want to save a little money I have a pair of 275's that I put about 250 miles on and had to take them off because they were rubbing. I also have a pair of lightweight discontinued Koseis (~18lbs) with 245/40/18 BFG d/rs I need to sell as well (Cut 1.67 60' on these). You could switch the tires out for something wider like a MT ET Street Radial 265/40/18. That was my original plan but decided to order 16's

those are some fast 60-foots. When I was stock I did a 1.84 on BFGs and hope to see high 1.6's. How did Derek ever get a low 1.6x on the RA-1s?
I have 4 - 18 inch Kosei's with 9 inch rims which should support 265 or 275s. I might be interested in your R888s. So you think MT's over BFGs.
Do you have a link to the MTs? What tire pressure do you go with 18-22lbs? thanks.

As for tire pressure, I got this off their website:
Inflation Pressures
On the racetrack DO NOT use starting pressures below 11 psi.
Recommend pressures for:
P295 and larger sizes: 11-14 psi
P275 and smaller sizes: 12-16 psi
On the highway we recommend running 75% of the max psi as notes on the sidewall of the tire.
Burnouts
The tread compound used in the ET Street Radials is designed to heat quickly and does not require a heavy burnout. Continue the burnout at a level RPM until the engine starts to pull down. We do not recommend a dry hop after the burnout.
Bead/Wheel Slippage
Some bead/wheel slippage (1/2” or less) may result during the course of a 1/4 mile (or 1/8 mile) drag race. This is normal. Check for tire slippage when you check your tire pressure after each pass.
Excessive Rim Slip
If continued or excessive (more than ½” to 1”per run) wheel/slip is experienced, Mickey Thompson recommends the use of “Beadlock” wheels for ET Street Radials. Bead screws are not recommended and could lead to tire failure and or damage.

I have run both Pirelli Corsas (road race tire) and Mickey Thompson Street E/T's. My best 60' with the Corsas was a 1.78 and my best on the MT's was a 1.69. I am running 17" MT's, I could not go 16" due to rear brake clearences. The Corsas perform much better than I thought they would and they are very consistant, one night I liad down 3 1.80's that were all with 5/1000th's of one another on a different occasion I laid down 5 1.80's that were all within 19/1000th's, you can't get much more consistant than that. I feel I have not yet "learned the MT's nor reached their full potential, everyone I talk to says I should be closer to a 1.60 on MT's.
I run the Corsas at 21 pounds and the MT's everywhere from 15-19 PSI, like I said still learning and experimenting. I'm running out of time so I better figure then out soon.

Ahmad, where you the one that showed me that all CF wheel a few weeks back? I am trying to find some info on those wheels. I want to run a set of those up front 18x8's, if they make them with the skinniest tires possible as part of my drag set up along with the MT's.
Thanks
Thanks

Thanks for allowing me to live through you guys on this. Meet sounds like it's gonna be a blast.
Just an idea. Wonder if there are any locals that could possibly bring down a nice jack or 2 and a torque wrench. Gotta feeling there will be a lot of tire swapping going on between brothers.
I bet JR will have it covered but just in case.

I see two tires on this link and the top ones look like DRs that you would be referring to but don't have the 18 inch.
Will the bottom ones hook 1.6x's also? The tread looks very different. thanks.
#399
Since you are running 18's you have no choice. The top tire (ET Street) is a bias ply tire so you would need a bias ply tire up front as well. You should be able to hook 1.6's with the ET Street Radials, thats what I'm getting since I didnt go with the skinnies up front.
