FS: Quaife Differential

Any takers for a new in the box Quaife LSD for an E55 at $1300?

The part number is 48 309 185 and should fit all years of E55 and if memory serves the SL55 and many other applications.

I also have available an "installation kit" for an '03 E55 at $155, this will not work on the '04 or later due to bearing differences. The kit consists of a complete set of ring gear bolts, a pair of new bearings with races, a pair of output flange seals, and an axle nut which are all new parts from MB. This is everything you should need short of gear oil and a tube of black silicon gsket sealer to do the installation.

I will sell the diff alone but would love to find someone with an '03 to off the entire package.

Please PM me with any questions.

The actual part number for the 03 + E55's is QDF9V; it should be on the side of the diff. The number above is a stock or SKU# that Autotech (US Quaife dealer) uses to list it. I had to call, thinking I got the wrong part since 48.309.185 is nowhere to be seen on the diff itself.

So, yes, the diff listed above will fit an '05. Just letting you know the real deal so you don't freak like I initially did when mine arrived.

Hope this helps & good luck with the sale!

It will work on an '05 or an '06 just fine. The only difference is that the bearings in the install kit that I put together would not be correct as they changed from a matched pair of bearings to a pair that are different thicknesses. The other bits I have (output flange seals, axle nut, and ring gear bolts) should all work. So what you would need is my install parts without the bearings, a pair of bearings from the dealer for $130, and a tube of black permatex, MB or Loctite sealant and you are good to go.

Andy is correct, I provided the stock number not the diff number....my bad!

No, you do not have to change a thing.

What you notice after installing one of these little gems is that your traction control light doesn't flash like mad as the power is going were it belongs....to both rear wheels!

These are quality lsd's.

My tech has installed 2 and not a single shim was needed. Direct bolt in and play. Awesome unit.

Only thing that beats it is the messiah AMG lsd but who wants to spend that kinda cashola.

AMG has an LSD that is avaialble in Europe from the factory but it is some big bucks. I would tend to argue that the Quaife diff is actually stronger.

Jakpro1: Do you remember the labor charge for the Quaife diff installation. Thanks

understand what you mean: 40 was the performance option for 63, while 30% was the option offered for 55.
Don't know if there's a p.n.

I was not interested in it ..because I just bought the Quaife.
I simply had to buy the complete differential cage because I was looking for the pinion&crown that sits inside of it.
in any case, if SL63 has a LSD as stock, I'll get it included.
it should be a 40 but I'm not sure.

I am pretty sure that the upgraded AMG unit must be installed by AMG and is not availale over a parts counter unless they have changed things.

No longer stock '06 E55, A3 3.2 Quattro, LRD4 HSE, R107 280SL
Quaife LSD is by far better than any of the OEM clutch / clamping style LSD's manufacturers use and charge an arm and a leg for - its rediculous. The OEM benz version is no different.

Besides, Quaife is not only 0-100% lockable, but also lifetime guaranteed....

Dayam, still got to get round to fitting mine!!!!
