Brake Interchangability?
I was wondering if the CLS55 brakes are identical to the E55 brakes (calipers and discs)? If so, then would it be correct to assume the the CLS55 brakes from the "030" option, which are larger, can be retrofitted to the W211 E55? Do these cars share the same SBC units as well? Might be a nice factory brake upgrade if the parts interchange. Anyone done this?

I 'm also studying this same issue and just had a close look at it.
CLS55 has a composite 360x36mm front and a 8 pistons caliper (Brembo) with 2x2 set of pads. Disc pn is A 2304210712
its P030 package has the same composite disc but semi-floating, 380mm dia x36 ; pn is A 2304210912. also here we have a 8 pistons caliper .
I was trying to understand if it is the same caliper or not. Looking at the amounts of free room between my disc and the caliper (about 6mm) I guess it is not.
This type of caliper doesn't allow to install discs larger than 380mm in a 19" wheel because in my car the free room between the caliper and the wheel is only 16mm (maybe you could safely go till 385mm)
I think this caliper is better than the subsequent caliper mounted in the 63 that is 6pistons and 1x2 only pad set (this caliper style allows install of a 390mm disc in the Perf. version )
regards
I would not change 360 for 380 of the same heavy 16kg material
.. but I would go for Carbon-Silicon carbide discs
