Drove a C63...impressed by the transmission
Attend a dealer sponsored event yesterday and had the opportunity to drive the C63 and the SL63.
As much as the MCT equipped SL63 was an awesome machine near the realm of the supercars, the C63 really pulled my heart strings: the updated 7G-Tronic Speedshift transmission was fantastic in M mode compared to my E63, wish I could rip it out and swap it on the spot!
And driving a smaller and lighter AMG really whetted my appetite for a smaller daily driver again...but the C is darned small compared to the E class.
BTW, that lighter description is purely relative: it's sad that as a track junkie, I'm describing a 3,600 lb. curb weight car as 'lighter'...

My local mercedes dealer which I have spent a ton of money over the years just let me test drive the C63 by myself. I came back over 30 mins later. I was pretty impressed. The real esp shutoff was nice and the exhaust sounded sweet. It also handled like no benz I have ever drove. Really stiff and handled like it was on rails. I liked it at first but I think I would get sick of how rough the ride is.

The 1st-2nd shift is performed approx 400rpm below redline (6800rpm), the rest shift pretty much at the redline

Because I'm a Mb tech who has done the 63 training and I just read it out of the training manual.
Redline for 1st gear is 6700rpm, 7000 constant
Redline for 2nd-7th (max 10s) 7200rpm
