Auto-X'd the 55
Never been on any kind of track with this car and I was invited to attend an Auto-X event yesterday at AAA Speedway. All I can say if FUN!
First run = 60 sec ++++ (stop laughing!)
2nd run = 58 sec+ (forgive me)
3rd run = 55 sec+ (I'm going home now)
4th run = 52 sec+ (Staying for a little while)
5th run = 50 sec+ (gettin' the hang of it)
6th -??? = average about 47 sec+.
My best time was 45.38 secs.
Didn' t have to work the track or cones and ran 20+ times (lost count)
Nervous at first and I got al lot of "wow, u gonna auto-x that today?"; "this should be fun to watch"; cool people in general-lots of good track tips.
The first time I turned off the ESP, I spun the car around on the first and second 'sweeping' turns. Kind of threw me around a bit, but I learned to somehow control it after a few more runs. It was still very tricky to control the wheel spin on those sharp turns.
Sorry, no pics or videos, but they may show up on another site (lots of Miata's there). A Black E55 in an Auto-X event yesterday that was throwing it's a$$ around the track.
NEXT adventure:
There was an oval just around the corner that looked tempting...

Sounds like fun. However, I'd suggest you take some car control classes before you go throwing that big sedan around an oval. Hangin the tail out on an auto-x course is easy....you just take out cones. Doing it at 100+mph on an oval and your gonna be in the wall

I stood just outside that oval where I could see what you're saying.
There are classes to attend and I will sign up for those before going into somehting like that. Thanks.
