Raced A 997TT Cabrio Tonight
I was on Wilshire tonight heading West towards Westwood near the Beverly Hilton. I see a white 997TT come up next to me with 3 guys in it (I was driving with my girlfriend) and the guy in the back did a motion to race. I nod yes and go to downshift into second. By the time I downshift he already took off. (I was in C mode, forgot to switch to S). I hit the gas and took off. Within a couple of seconds I took the lead. I kept gaining on him until we came into a turn, I didnt trust his driving (luckily) so I slowed down on the turn and he took the lead. By the time we came out of the turn there was too much traffic to continue. I dont know if he was stock or not but we stopped for a second and talked about how much we loved eachothers cars. I also dont know if he was auto or stick. Good fun for the night though. I think I only took the lead because of the 3 people in the car and the fact that it was a convertible.

the guy in the back had his head about 2 feet higher than the other 2 guys, and it was easy to tell that he was much smaller. LOL. I agree with the godfatha though. I think he should have thrown me into his rear view, I don't think the guy knew what he was doing. It takes practice to get the most out of a Porsche, and the way these guys were cruising around it seemed like they just got it. A lot of fun though. I'd love to meet up with him again.

and yes. I'm sure it was a tt. I was raised around porsche and I adore them. And about the whole sitting in the back thing... I used to do it when I was like 6 in my brothers 86 911 cabrio. Even then I was uncomfortable as s***

LOL. With all that wind in his face I'm surprised he could breathe. We went from about 40 to about 120. We got to 120 before I knew it and thank god the turn came cause I didn't really want to go any faster. Especially since I Had someone win the car with me

I dont think he was saying that but Ill tell you this, a turbo cab with its top down and 3 peeps in it will be a slower car.

Believe me, I know how fast tts are. I know a 996 coupe would probably spank me silly if driven right. This cab with the 3 guys in it was a lot heavier. Porsches strong point is the weight, when you add the soft top and 3 ppl it screws it. Personally I don't think the 997tt is a thuroughbred, I think it's more of a cruiser.
And btw... I'm one of those guys that thinks the last real 911 was the 993. Air cooled baby. Never the less the new radiator is 100000000 times better, I just love tradition. And I won't go into what I think about the boxster.

The 997TT is the Porsche "daily driver flagship" IMHO but its not their track car that often it gets confused for. Those are reserved for RWD 997 GT2's, GT3, and GT3 RS's. I like to think my 997TT is a cruiser too but quite a fast one at that but still having some characteristics of a super handler as well.

Sounds good to me. Im dropping my car off at the dealership this Friday to get new sway bar bushings or sway bar endlinks (I'm not sure which I need), and after that I'm taking my car over to Serg for new brakes. I'm down for a meet after that. Maybe next weekend? Maybe a small meet at TJs with a few guys if you're down.
I'd buy the beers but they might card me. Lol
