Gonna purchase MB Star Diagnotics off ebay...? yay or nay??
So I'd like to buy the complete system with laptop for home use, any info before I purchase it off Ebay?? lol....Calgary sucks when it comes to finding a reputable mechanic outside of going to a Merc Stealership...I'd like to do the version coding for my 07 headlights and then get my ride height dialed in, then be able to have it around to pull codes and diagnostics...they range from $1500 to 2500 with june/08 updates...this is prob not as fancy as the dealerships but any thoughts on it?

If you have the cash, TOTALLY worth it.
Love love mine and the guy I got it off of is right in Canada.
Super fast shipper and it is EXACTLY like the dealers unit.
Dealer has the touch screen but my tech told me the older laptops are much faster than the touch screens anyway.
Great for checking codes, resetting tranny adapts and minor setting stuff.
Here is my guy. On the higher side, but plug and play product.

05 clk 55 conv., 03 E500, 01 E55, 03 F350, FJR1300....
The way our stealers work, more power to ya. I paid over $ 300 to reset my srs light and to clear some malfunction messages. I had to wait about 2.5 hours for a 10min job.

yah the cheaper one offers no updates, but really, its updated withe june 08 software....not sure if it will do the same things as the $2000-2500 unit

Nah, it's just just a more in depth diagnostic tool.
You can upgrade to the developers edition and have access to a few other features (that are all in German BTW) but things like delimiting top speed etc.
Haven't quite figured that out on mine yet but I am working on it .
