You run a carfax on the VIN yet? Also check the VIN against what your dealer SA has in their system....GL.

I know there's no warranty... but low enough to be skeptical. Check the car thoroughly (VMI, body work, etc.).... if the car's checked out and you could get an extended warranty, I'd say go for it.

It's cheap because as soon as you hit 50k, you can't get an extended warranty anymore. At least not a good one.
50k is the breakpoint for most benzes lately. If that 55 on the ad had 49,900 miles, it would be worth $5k+ more.
As to whether it's a good deal, that depends on whether you mind paying for maintenance yourself. If you're used to paying a payment and then having little or no operating cost, then you should pass. If you don't mind having a lower payment and fixing stuff when it breaks, and having to do so at independent shops vs. the mercedes dealer (unless you wana go broke...dealers rape you on customer-pay repairs), then it's probably a good deal. Most important is whether it fits your situation.

All of the "good" aftermarket warranty companies, like Chrysler Service Contracts, GE Warranty Svcs., etc., will normally require the vehicle to either be under 50k miles, or to still be covered by the manufacturer's warranty, or both.
I went down this road myself. If you want a vehicle with a warranty, you will need to limit yourself to cars with less than 50k on them, or limit yourself to buying a CPO one from an MB dealer. They have some matrix they can use where they can push through higher-mileage cars under the CPO program, but most MB dealers will mark the car up disproportionately to the value of the warranty, so it's hard to find a good deal. Your best bet is to find a good private party example with less than 50k on it, and then buy a warranty directly. If that's what you plan on doing, then you should rule this one out.

2005 E55, Renntech Pulley, ECU
I'm with the "not a great deal" group. I was considering selling my '05 with 48.8k miles for $30k. I have more options and am still under 50k, so the buyer would be able to buy an third-party extended warranty. I'm probably going to end up buying the warranty myself and keeping my treasured E55, but I was looking at ~$30k as my sale price if I did...
You should be able to find an '05 with just under the 50k threshold for close to what this car is selling for. As others have said, you can't buy an aftermarket warranty once the car is over 50k... And you do NOT want to buy a used E without a warranty.

Who ever buys that car is buying a car who did 15k local and brought it back to the garage...oh and he took it to the beach once or twice. If you can get that car for under $40k I would get it. That dealership tried to rip me off on a E55 when I was shopping for my 55. I remember like yesterday, 03 with 30k miles with very limitied options for $45,000. I got a 04 with every option and 19k for $50 on the dot. Today prices dropped big time but my 55 is worth every penny.
