Two things...
Nice watch
and
Can an Iphone be connected through this setup? Or is it better to go with the new bluetooth adaptor?

Install done,Took me just under 2 hours,The write up here was perfect (Thanks Yacht!).
I did buy the amp and i removed it right away as it wasnt needed and added some distortion.I payed 70 bucks for it,hope they take it back.
My volume with my Ipod is the same as any cd or radio volume

Hi i just had this ipod integration kit installed in my e63 the problem i ran into is when i plug the ipod in i can see the mercedes logo on my ipod but no audio comes out of the comand unit. Is there something i am missing in this step? Another problem is now my care's built in alarm keeps going beep beep every few minutes like the system doesn't recognize the new kit. the only way i could stop it is disable the fuse and remove the relay.
thanks
thanks

My friend said I was lucky because my car had the phone kit thus it allowed the ipod to be controlled by the steering controls. If I didn't have that kit enabled I would have to use the STAR system to unlock it. I dunno if this helps ... Good Luck

I got my kit today, and now I am a bit nervous about installing it. LOL!! That is a lot of parts removal. Thank you for this write-up though.

My kit arrived last week but I do not see a DVD/CD in there like the one in this kit. Would it be different for an '07 E63 than it was for the E55 in this write-up?

This is the update to help overcome a difference in volume when you switch from CD to I-Pod or I-Pod to radio. It seems to be a in-line amp and will give louder play back and enhanced bass.
You can also check or change level by
#1. Turn on command.
#2. Select AUX/I-Pod.
#3. Press down arrow and Phone hang-up for 8 seconds.
#4. When VOL appears chose --- (down arrow) or +++(up arrow) Vol setting.

E55 w/ goods, Z32 Project underway
Bringing this awesome DIY back from 2008. Curious, has anyone spliced the AUX back into iPod cable which leads into the Command. Reason I ask is that I am steering away from Apple products and prefer the flexibility of using both my Galaxy III and iPhone 4.
Thinking as the AUX leads are not powered other than audio in it should not pose an issue either way......
EDIT
Spliced AUX into iPod loom which plugs into the back of the command. Perfect, no issues and sound is considerably better vs using the iPhone connector even using the Iphone4. )

Awesome write up! I did this install on my 55 this past week and this thread was a great guide! I figure I'd give back as well. Two things Id like to add.
1. To lower the audio gateway you need to loosen these 3. This will give full access to that plug you need to disconnect.
2. You dont need to remove the B pillar (as OP suggested) however fishing the cable through the the harness channel was not easy. I took a transmission dipstick and poped it through from the front to back, tapped the ipod cable to the dipstick then pulled it through the front. MUCH easier
Hope this helps!
